General What's NOT covered in the 3rd Year Warranty?

Would have thought one of our 'in the know' members would have posted by now. I'm afraid I don't have the answer but I do remember various chat on this site that the dealer warranty is not up to much. You would be best dropping into or contacting the dealer for a breakdown (no pun intended).

It should cover most major mechanical parts that aren't considered consumables.

If you're having trouble with trim i.e dashboard rattles or squeaks they will probably charge you.

As it's nearly two years since I bought my 500, I can't remember where the details for the third year are. I had it in my head it was a continuation of the main warranty (wishful thinking obviously - Doh!).

Would interested to hear from any owner who has had work done in the third year and what their experience has been.

HUGE list in the service book of what is not covered in the third year.
I feel very uncomfy about this as I am getting my stuck sunblind looked at tomorrow and half expecting to get an expencive bill to repair it (Even though ive only had it two months)

3 pages it lists too for all models bar the Sedici (it may have better coverage)

I'll give a rundown what it says.
It says all is covered with the exception of:

Paintwork, bodywork and mouldings;
Bodywork aperture seals, water entry into car; corrosion of any part of the bodywork; brake friction material; glass; lenses; brightwork; lock cylinders and keys; interior trim.

Wheels; wheel balancing; tyres.

Exhaust system (with exception to the cat)

Engine tuning; cleaning of fuel lines; filters; nozzles, injectors and pumos, drive belts that are not enclosed; impact or external daamage;; decarb and failure caused by carbon deposits.

Wiper blades; rubber; hoses, pies and unions

Batteries; wires, terminals and reconnection of disturbed electrical connections; lamps; bulbs and fuses; audio and in car entertainment equipment, aerials. car phones.

Wear of clutch release bearing; center plate and cover assembly

adjustments, alignments, failures due to lack of oils or coolant through neglect.

brake friction material, brake disc and drums due to wear and tear and corrosio.

any parts including seals and gaskets that are subject to replacement or refitment as part of normal servicing or maintanence schedule.

Fuek, chemical materials, additives, hydrolic fluids, oil or gases, except where required in direct connection with a repaired or covered part.

Nothing on the interior too. Think is basically only covers suspension,drivetrain/gearbox and engine. Things that rarely go wrong but are expensive.
I don't even think the alloys are covered against corrosion (problem on grande puntos) but not sure.

Cheers - I didn't think to look in the most obvious place - the 'service book' Doh!! Pretty much as I expected.

What really stands out, when you read the Sedici section
it says you enjoy the standard 2 year warrenty like on other fiat models, but in its third year, you also enjoy the same level of cover.

Probably something to do with it basically been a suzuki, I'm not sure how many of the components are fiat.

The Diesel engine is Fiat, the petrol is Suzuki, and the car is built on a Swift platform, by Suzuki. It was designed by Giugiaro.

Methinks, It's pretty poor to only provide 2 years of full cover and 1 year of half-cover when competitors are offering so much more

Doubtless one of the contributory factors to Fiat's sales being down more in Europe this year than any other manufacturer. They will have to address these terrible warranty and aftersales issues soon, especially now that Toyota is giving five year warranties and other competitors will soon be doing the same.

The only way to compete successfully in a stagnant market is by offering great value in all areas.

And I can confirm I am now left in a horrid situation with my sunblind, its not covered, and its £130 for the part and £150 for labour. Not very happy with this one all things considered.

I know I have mentioned this on another post but it is worth speaking to fiat uk,they might authorise it to be done as goodwill.

If they wont cover it, take the car elsewhere. They will be able to get the same part and labour will most likely be considerably cheaper.
