General What's NOT covered in the 3rd Year Warranty?

I've just been to Stoneacre fiat in Peterborough who tell me it needs 4x new glow plugs (£19.95) and a new control unit (£79.99) plus labour. They are waiting to see if Fiat will cover it as part of the third year dealer warranty as it's just over two years old. I must say I am surprised that all 4 glow plugs need replacing and it needs a new control unit. It only has 20k on the clock and I am always careful not to turn the engine till the glow plug sign goes out. I hope Fiat will cover this or else I will be very disappointed and out of pocket. Will let you know whether this is covered or not.

This is not right. My 1.9 JTD is still on its original glow plugs at 70,000+. I will get them replaced before winter because they do seem a bit tired in the cold, but this is the sort of life span they should have.

Thanks Ulpian - yes 20k seems very low for all 4 plugs to need replacing, and what does the control unit do? Why should that need replacing too. Fiat better pay up or I will kick up a fuss.

I don't know what it does either, but it shouldn't need replacing so soon. I'd be furious too.

I'd expect they will do this for free since they don't want angry customers if they can help it, especially when competitors are now offering 5-7 year warranties!

Just an update for my issue, having contacted Benfield Nissan where I got my 500 from, they are going to resolve my issue via their Fiat dealership and let me get it fixed up here at Morrisons Fiat in Stirling.

They just asked me to get a quotation from Morrisons and fax it to them (which Morrisons did for me this morning).

So this should avoid having to pleed mycase to Fiat CS thankfully.

I was very annoyed when Fiat started to sell the 500 in the UK with only a 3yr warranty when it was a 5yr in most European.
It was one reason I placed an order early most disapointed when it turn out to be just a 2yrs and a partial warranty for 3rd
i managed to get agreement from Fiat CS that if a 5yr warranty became available in the 5yrs I had the car i could upgrade to it didnt mention any cost though :D
