After a discussion with the developers of fuelly, I've convinced them to add "ABARTH" as a separate brand on the fuel tracking site Fuelly. I explained how Abarth is still owned by Fiat (like Ferrari, Alfa, Lancia, Maserati etc) but still has it's own HQ, I also explained the fact that Abarth's can only be purchased from Abarth dealers, not just any old Fiat garage, and that Abarth appears under "make" on the reg documents. There were other factors in persuading them to add Abarth too.

I hope you all agree with what i have achieved here. You see, under "browse vehicles" Abarth will now appear at the top of the page, hopefully the brand won't be lost amongst the other Fiats now, it stands out now and with 23,500 users on Fuelly, this should help boost the brands credibility and generate some interest from Fuelly users overseas, especially for those anticipating the arrival of the Fiat/Abarth brand in the USA.

For those of you who already use fuelly and own an Abarth, you need to edit your car and instead of selecting "Fiat" under manufacturer, select "Abarth". I am the only Abarth on there at the moment! Here is my profile page, you can see all my fuel stats for the last 10,000 odd miles (although the mileage on the car is around 17,000 currently)

I appreciate this site is not every one's cup of tea, and the majority of you own the Fiat varient of the 500, but i find the results interesting and very accurate. It helps me calculate my annual fuel costs with ease.

That'll be all for now thanks guys :)

For once I kind of agree with you. It's weird when you see a 500 doing something silly like 30 mpg and it's not until you go into their profile that you see whether they're an Abarth owner OR just someone who rides their brakes all day long like this person must! http://www.fuelly.com/driver/jackles/500 :ROFLMAO:

Everyone should use fuelly IMHO. All you need to do each time you fuel up is note down how many litres of fuel you put in and the mileage on the odometer. It really isn't difficult at all. If you note down the cost per litre you can see how much it costs you per mile as well :)

Yes another point i made to him was that although the cars are very similar, the T-jet engine (amongst other things) is not available in the Fiat 500, so for someone glancing at the Fiat 500 vehicles page, and comparing MPG, it would be misleading as the MPG readings would generally be lower due to the extra performance etc the T-jet engine gives. You can imagine:

"I'm not buying a Fiat 500, they only do 30 MPG!"

Well done Paul (y)

You are not alone though, Olopboy has already you (1 fill up though so far)

I reckon Jackles has the settings wrong, those prices look like european / british not US (per litre) even allowing for a diet of super unleaded and a hefty hoof (it's not yet done much mileage - 306 can match that in half the fillups :D)

well done, I'm hopefully heading for 450 on friday if the M25 is obliging then (naffing Epsom is on so I hope I clear the traffic) - that will be 870 in 2 fillups :D - don't you just love the warmer weather :p

Their lists aren't very good, they didn't list the Ford S-Max, luckily you can add your own model but it means other people won't find it easily. Strangely they do list my Triumph TR7 though!

The SMax isn't a car, it's a reminder not to have too many kids :p

Thanks for this thread, it prompted me to ask Fuelly to authorise the S-Max and they have! There are two others on there and I'm beating them both. :D

I don't understand the point? When the car runs out of fuel you put more in. Why does this need a site to track it?

I think it's less for the users benefit and more for the benefit of people wanting to buy a new car as it gives real-world figures for mpg based on actual people's usage rather than a few numbers in a brochure.

And how many litres did you get in? 42? 43 maybe?

Did a trip to Shrewsbury today, 120 miles and averaged 46.6 MPG! (no thanks to all the bloody caravans, one of which did 10 MPH, yes 10 up a particular hill, grrrrrrrr....)
