Give Fiat CS a ring first. They're the horses mouth so to speak and will be trading standards point of contact, so cut the middleman out initially.

Hi guys, do you think i am better phoning some random bod at customer services or is it best to write a formal letter? quite aware that people on the end of the phone are more interested in getting rid of you than helping. Do i have any rights at all under any law? or is that i just have to plead good will from fiat?

phone. The person on the other end of the phone has to deal with you.
Send a letter and you won't even know if it has been read.

Oh look back on topic.

But FWIW I would phone Fiat CS first, explain your problem and inform them that you will talk to trading standards as your next move. Then if you get no joy from Fiat CS, actually call Trading Standards.

By using this approach, I managed to get a new car from Fiat due to their crappy bodyshop making a right dogs dinner of my first 500. Mentioning writing a letter to the motoring press may help too.

This thread started off so useful and has degenerated back into a thread from a few weeks ago.

Ring Fiat Customer Services, explain the problem
They fix problem ... end of issue
or
They dont fix problem ... investigate further (CAB, TS, Your Aunt and Uncles whoever)

Is it me, or does the solution seem really simple and some people are just post for the sake of being heard.

This is akin to Spam
