I have recently found out that me and my partner are expecting our first baby, great news except i have only had my little 500 8 months and may have to trade her in for something bigger.

Does anyone have a baby and manage ok with the 500 and pram (Quinny Buzz) and also the car seat?

Quinny Buzz is maybe too big for the car. Maybe a Quinny Zapp is more like it

Otherwise, Car Seat wise you should be fine - but getting in and out of a 3-door in general is a bit tricky

well the wheels come off really easily apparently so that will make it smaller, i dont want to get rid of my 500 just yet!

We have three kids, two cars. The 500 is ideal for short trips with the kids, we put the baby seat in the passenger seat, where you can easily switch the airbag off. It's very convenient, in the other car it's not an option, so the baby always has to travel in the back.

We have a Mclaren buggy, that fits ok. Not much else though.

My kids are 5 and 3yrs and they fit in rear of the 500 with no problems for a short journey. Ok, we wouldn't travel the length of the country in it (we have an estate car for that) but its fine for novelty "lets all go in the 500" day trips off. Maclaren buggy fits across the boot too.

You'll probably get by with the 500, but as time goes by admit to yourself that you really should get a proper family car aswell.

Enjoy the car and congrats!

Safest place for a child is in the back. I think thats been proven many times. The Airbag can easily be turned off which is a plus though.

I swapped my Quinny Buzz for a Quinny Zapp and that fits well, and I still have more than half of my boot

Might take a picture

I was going to say that but didn't want to be seen as an ogre :p The bit about the child being in the back, not about swapping a quinny buzz for a zapp :p

Congrats hun, I am in the same boat, 13 weeks gone! I will be keeping my Bella for a run about. But we looking at a people carriers, we expecting twins.

thanks Diamonds :) im very excited!! Congratulations to you too are they your first? Gosh twins your going to have your hands full!

Yeah obviously little one will be in the back, although it does say whilst they are in a rear facing car seat then they are ok in the front so ling as the airbag pass is turned off!!

Hi Daniyella

First - congratulations!

I have a 4 year old and a newborn and both fit in the back (or sometimes, I put the small one in the front with airbag switched off). Still plenty of room for the buggy (with one wheel off :)), some shopping and baby bag and other bits and pieces... so I would say you'll be fine... Try to live with the car and the baby at first, and get a bigger car if it doesn't work later. You'd be gutted to swap cars before the baby arrives just to find out later that the 500 would be adequate as a family car

Good luck!

Hi, congrats to you both! I am 20 weeks pregnant and expecting a little boy. i also have the same problem. I got given a Hauck Infinity travel system and tried to fit it in today but will not go in with out the left rear seat down! Im looking at getting something smaller but cant seem to get smaller! I dont want to get rid of Bambi as shes been the best car. The dimensions of my pram are 88cm in length, 45cm in height and 44cm in width. The wheels are way too big! A trip to Mothercare, Kiddiecare or somewhere that sell prams should let you try them in your car. Im hoping to do that soon! ;)

Congratulations again,
Kezza(y)

Yes, my first twins run in my husband side. We hoping for a boy and girl. We so excited, been trying for nearly a year. Can't wait to be a mother. Congrats on your little boy to come.

Congratulations on your baby boy too!

Yeah i might go down to Mothercare and ask if i can try it in my car one day when im bored, i have another 6 months left to go yet so i dont need to know right away, i really dont want to have to get rid of Lola if i dont need to :)

Ive hopefully found one!!!!! Mammas and Pappas Lunix Mix. had a look at one yesterday and they are the smallest ones ive seen folded! Ill let you know whether it fits in later on today as im going to try one in the boot. Got to get one sorted soon as my mum and dad aer getting me one in June. Otherwise, if you can wait, Theres a special pushchair coming out soon that i think us mums to be should all have!!!! :D Cant find the page now that my partner showed me, but theres a Fiat 500 pram coming out sometime in 2010 from the Seed manufactures! Ill keep looking for the page! :bang:

that will cost a fortune!

and on a personal rant,i cant get over how expensive prams are when in reality they are (IME) made of cheap materials and not very well engineered

edit: is this the one you are getting?
