Hi

I've got the clock running against me on this one. Want to order a new 500, stealer tells me that they have one on its way in already but without stop start and rubbing strips..pretty much same price as one with strips and stop start...any reason why I should choose the one without...also, they're still going to make me pay delivery for it if i have it, even though they already ordered it in, not for me??:confused::confused:

There should be £100 difference for the rubbing strip, but i'm fairly sure the stop/start car is no different in cost to a non stop start.

We took delivery of a 2010 last week and it has neither of the above option.

Delivery is part of the OTR price and someone has to pay for it.

We did get £300 off the car, not sure how that stacks up in terms of any discount you have been offered.

I would suspect that Start/Stop may be a feature that you would want - esp come resale time. it does not cause any problems (as u can turn it off) - its something for nothing

If I were you, either I would want some discount, or I would want my exact car and I will wait for it

Well, I've been offered no discount at all. they just said I could have this in 2wks rather than 2-4mths. I dont care about waiting but I am concerned that either, not having stop start could hinder me when trying to sell or that having stop start could cause me lots of trips to the garage

I would personally rather wait for what you order!

ESPECIALLY if you have to pay the same price just becuase its already here!
Thats rubbish...

IF they ordered it incorrectly then its not your fault, you should not have to pay extra!

But I would still wait for the S&S edition.

Thanks guys. It was my gut reaction to tell them thanks, but no thanks. I think I will :)

Personally I'd wait. IMHO you should be able to get a discount now even if it's just a small one. Tell them to stick it IMHO :)

Well I've said thank you for enquiring for me, but no thank you.
This car buying crap is driving me potty already..nowt against the dealers or whatever, just stressful potentially spending so much money on a car...first car cost me £945 three years ago and I had that saved away lol. Having said all that, the guy ive been to see is much better than the jokers at arnold clarke

A non-Start&Stop 500 (any model) is £200 cheaper than the same car with Start&Stop, so any dealer saying they are the same price is lying to you and ripping you off.

Correct me people if I am wrong, but doesn't the new twin arrive this summer? If so, then that would be the one to go for. I'd wait a while yet and get this really economical and innovative version of the 500. Wait until the launch is announced and then place your order: unless of course you don't like the idea of being an early adopter.

One of the benefits of this forum is to get info on future developments that ordinary uninterested punters don't have; might as well take advantage of it.

The first car to get the TWIN-AIR engine will be the Fiat 500. Available in July, the TWIN-AIR 500 produces 63 kW (85 PS) consumes 15% less fuel and has 25% more performance than the 1.2-liter 8v which achieves in the combined cycle 5.1 L/100 km (55 mpg imp / 46 mpg US). Compared to the 1.4 16-valve which achieves 6.3 L/100 km (45 mpg imp / 37 mpg US) fuel consumption drops 30%.

Why isn't the cost difference shown in the price list Scrogg?

Because non-Start&Stop wasn't going to always be available.

FIAT made it available again for a limited time after announcing Start&Stop would be standard across the range because they could not get enough of the new engines to cover the demand brought about by Scrappage and the March plate change.

Now that demand has dropped again and they can build enough cars with S&S you can no longer order a car without it.
