General 500c and 500 questions....

Hi TechHouseC

I have seen your video on youtube already. Very impressed with your car and that video was what put the grey/ivory idea in my head! Very nice combination indeed. (y)

Why do you say that your next will not be a soft top? Any particular reason?

And to the earlier post regarding the 1.2 on the motorway, we took the 1.2 test car on a busy 5 mile stretch of dual carriageway and it was brilliant at motorway speed. Plenty of go in her. Still a diesel for me though!

No particular reason only that I think I've got the 'must have a convertible' feeling out of my system. I love the C and I equally love the hatch. I suppose the only real reason for going back to the hatch is practicality. Although the boot is of a generous size the opening itself does lose its charm after a while, as does having to bend to put anything in the boot, rather than placing it in the hatch.

Also, and I know how strange this sounds, I think the hatch looks better than the C. The hatch is perfectly styled in absolutely every way. I think the addition of the convertible roof makes the car look a little awkward from some angels, mainly because of the small rear window and the larger windscreen.

Having said that when the sun shines, or even when it doesn't, with the roof back or all the way down its a fantastic car to have.

Oh, one other thing, mine is incredibly sluggish at times. I don't know by how much the weight differs between the hatch Lounge and the C Lounge but I guess with the roof mechanism, the climate control system, the ESP control unit and in my case the Xenon units perhaps it's a little heavy at times.

I still love it though, to bits.

Hi geo,

I've got a 'c' in funk white 1.2 lounge with red roof - my interior is the half-leather / black cloth - I can put a photo on tomorrow if you want to see it.

I've got a 'c' Lounge in tech house grey with a black roof - the grey is a gorgeous colour and I think it looks great with either black or cream roof :) But I think it needs the white ambience to brighten it up a bit if you have the black roof. I just went for the standard cloth seats with the white ambience, and I think they're great! I've never really got the whole seat debate - to me, the colour of the car and roof was more important than the seats. And the standard cloth ones I've got still seem really smart to me! They've got fake leather panels on them anyway and I find them really comfy - and that was with driving 7 hours to Glasgow last weekend!

It is a really tough choice, and only you can decide! I was really tempted with white - and still really like it. But in a way I'm glad I got grey as it seems a bit different. But red looks gorgeous too! And Black! Argh I'm not helping am I?!?! hehe :D

Thanks for all your kind replies.

I'm a bit gutted now to be honest as just as I was about to order my 500c, our financial advisor contacted us regarding our remortgage and when we mentioned the new car she said to hold off until mortgage has been finalised incase the extra PCP finance affects the mortgage deal. I know the remortgage is more important than a new car at the moment and understand where she is coming from. Its just that with the 8 week order time the dealership quoted it meant that we still had some summer left to have the roof down!!

Now I'm looking at having to wait a few weeks to a month before ordering. The only thing that concerns me is that the apr was so low on the fiat PCP deal (even getting lower the more you spent making a 500c a better deal than a 500!) that the dealership said they had no idea when this deal would end.

Now it could be salesman scare tactics but it could also be that in a months time when I go back, the brilliant finance deal with 3.3% apr might have finished and I'll be gutted :(

Oh well, I'll just have to be patient I guess. (Not my strongest virtue! It killed me waiting 9 months for our baby!)

I just have to look at it as extra time to get the colour choice right...

If its a standard Fiat UK (i.e. Fiat Finance) offer then it shouldn't end until June, iirc?

Offers tend to run March - June, June - September, September- Jan and then Jan - March - although I'll stand corrected.

PCP deal should therefore last until the end of June. Also sometimes the offers actually get better. For example the former 500C Pop offer was much higher APR and £195 per month.

Thanks TechHouseC. Thats what I'm hoping.

P.S Sorry to hear about your scratched iPhone on the other thread. I'd be gutted too. If it were mine I'd be crying like a baby now :cry::cry:

I'm quietly sitting in the office trying not to let it get to me! With that and my pebble-dashed sills I need some quiet reflection time.

I'm always so careful with the iPhone too. It lives in its little sock and gets a daily polishing. As it stands now I'll have to get a case for it - I wonder if Fiat do a 500 case, 500 shaped and in many different colours? :D

The current FIAT i-Deal Low Cost PCP offer (if that is what your dealership has quoted you on) does indeed run until the end of June.

The fact that your dealership said they did not know how long it last geo uk is exactly as you say, "scare tactics"

For that reason mine never comes out of its tight fitting, clear silicon case! (Wouldn't help much if it fell on the screen though!)

Just out of interest, do you have the ipod/iphone adapter cable and Blue & Me? If so, how well does the iPhone integrate with the system as a means of playing the music from it? I have always missed out on full ipod integration in the last few cars I've had and swear that the next one will be compatible with my iPhone as a number one feature! No more FM transmitters! I'm putting hell of a lot of faith in Blue & Me and this iPod/iPhone adapter in my 500c when I order it! :worship:

And thank you Scrogg. Thats reassuring. I thought that may have been the case. Now I just got to sort out the boring important financial matters (mortgage etc.) so I can have some real fun with my money (500c). You only live once, and I want to feel the wind in my hair before it disappears!

It works great - the first few times it seems to have a fit as the Blue&Me women keeps say "Building media library, please wait" and then it all seems to work fine.

I've also got the Blue&Me Map which is excellent.

Well worth opting for the Blue&Me port on the dash, especially as its free. (y)

maxi cosi priori fix xp seat fits in the back - I tried it before I bought my car. It is the one from 9 months to 4 years (although my son went into a hi-back booster seat from 2.5 years old). MacLaren stroller fits in the boot with loads of room for shopping.

Kids aren't small for long and I now have my son next to me on a booster on the front seat.

Another quick question regarding Lounge spec on the 500c is regarding Auto climate control. The spec list in the brochure doesn't feature this as standard however it does on the website (unless I am mistaken).

Can anyone clarify this? I assume the Auto climate control is the system with buttons and temp display as opposed to the turning knobs?!

Also asked my dealer about the iphone/ipod cable kit and he said it was £8. I thought this kit was £70ish? When I told him this all he said was that he could charge me £70 if I wanted!!

I take it I need something to get my iPhone to work with the Blue & Me? Is it an £8 cable or a £70 something or other?
