Thanks for the thoughts and comments, all valid points.
Good to know about the servicing plan that AC have on offer too.

Although one thing im wondering Scrogg, do you mean plenty of stock of new or used ?
From what I saw on the dealers lot, there are plenty of new Pops in stock but the black 2009 spec lounge plus a yellow one in the showroom were the only ones they had of that spec.

If I did go for a new one, then it would be a 1.2 Lounge, Red, with black interior trim (whats the chances of finding interscope ?)

Otherwise, on a used one, Same spec but with a 1.4.

If it comes to used stock, Fiat approved doesnt show anything for scotland, its as if Arnold Clark holds a near monopoly on that side of sales.

Morrisons garage in Stirling are the only others with an online stocklist that I know of and they only list 2 used Pop's.

or just buy one in England and drive it home, it only takes a day (y)

I have spotted the exact spec i'd like on an 08 plate in Nuneaton, but thats a bit of an epic trip to get it ;)

Would be a long way to travel just to see a car though.

New. I hardly ever get involved with used cars any more so don't bother looking at what stock other dealerships have.

There's a standard 1.2 Lounge in Pasadoble Red with Black Chequered Cloth/Black Ambience (I assume that's what you want?) sat at Portbury available to any dealer. You could be in that one in under 2 weeks...

if it is your exact spec then why do you need to see it:confused:

i bought mine without seeing it and collected it 10 days later

It's more the concern that there may not be something right with it that puts you off having it at the time. I've been so used to seeing and trying the car before agreeing to buy it in the past.

Mmm, that spec is about right, yes :)
What's Portbury anyhow, where fiat uk keep the imported cars ?

I have to admit, I wont be doing anything until May time at the earliest anyhow. I'm away on holiday on Tuesday morning (assuming the big ash cloud isnt effecting flights still) so will give it a proper go over when I get back :)

Hey all
Thought i'd give an update.
Well i'm still in the uk due to that lovely icelandic volcano cancelling my holiday, so i've used the time to find a 500 I like.
And erm, its in Newcastle so I followed some earlier advise and be willing to travel for it.

So I spotted a 2 year old 1.4 Lounge in Calypso Orange (white ambience) with a whole 5500 miles on the clock
Colour and interior a bit different to what I had in mind but having seen how it looks, im quite happy with it.

Will be collecting the car on friday assuming all is okay when I see it.

Picked up Calypso Luigi on Friday, so had a 3 hour drive home to get aquanted with the car, can say that I really enjoyed the drive home, nice relaxing drive and managed 44mpg at the end of the trip.

I'm rather happy with the 1.4, its got ZOOM!
The trip gave me change to try out the sports button being on and off. Throttle response between the two is very noticable, switched it off and after a few seconds the car started to slow down. Was interesting.

Oh and whats with the dash lights, I switched the lights on and the dash didnt light up until the moment I went under a bridge. I assume the 500 has an ambiant light sensor on it for the dash?

Anyhow, thats all I have driven of the car so far, as I was back in the Brava again next morning for a drive to the airport and have been lumbered with a Ceed SW for the week I am here. But at least the Ceed is giving me practice on the 1.4's limited turning circle ;)

I found this one at a none fiat dealer suprisingly. Was from Benfield Nissan, next door to the Alfa dealer (So many MiTo's!)
But they seemed really good to deal with too. Having delt with Uncle Arnolds in the past, which always felt so forced, hell they were trying to force you to buy something you didnt want. It really was a breath of fresh air dealing with Benfields.
