Wahoo, from the 1st of April - my road tax goes down a whole £5 .. first time its gone down in any car I have owned!!!

1.2 119 g/km - BAND C

My disc runs out on 31st March, so will have to go to a P.O. on the 1st to ensure no lapse rather than doing it online

1.3 MJ goes down to £20, super Early models were 111g/km I think though.

Early models is that the old 1.3MJ ? If so they are actually in to band B @110g/km which makes £35-2009/10 and £20 2010/11

More good news on running costs then.

The rates are from the 1st April 2010.

The 1.3MJ was 111g/km when first release but was quickly revised to 110g/km.

It was actually a looser from the recession as it was supposed to be £0 road tax from last year (and London CC f.o.c too) but the road tax 'increases' were shelved due to the recession, as a result of which the 1.3MJ remained at the £35 rate

I hadnt realised that ... mine was ordered pre launch but shows 110g/km on V5 - Phew !!

I am slightly annoyed with the recession too Zero tax would have been nice to have but £20 is super too.

My other half's car is a 4x4 - and she pays in a month than I do in a year!!! That's worth it alone

There is definately a huge satisfaction to not paying tax even if it costs more to do it

so do I understand this correctly, the first year will be free as a kinda 'incentive' how is that an incentive when the dealer pays the first years tax? does it mean the 'on the road' price should be £30 less from april

I think traditionally - buying a new car, Dealer would include a charge for the tax disc, i,e the On-The-Road Price ... I don't think they will lower the OTR price if the cost of the disc goes down.

no neither do I, so I fail to see how free tax for the first year is an 'incentive' lol

It may not be much of an incentive when the cost of the tax is only £20 but it good publicity and doesnt cost the tax man much to give (unless everyone buys small cars), however this tax isnt aimed at us its aimed at big cars where its a puniative tax and the first yr tax is huge ! It gets progresivley worse from A-M, at E tax class the first yr is the same as every other yr but at M tax its nearly double @£950.

Just paid my £30 and got myself a nice shiny tax disc

Woohoo! That fiver will come in very handy - my intention will naturally be to pop in an extra fiver of petrol and burn it very quickly!
