Technical "Shift" Dashboard Light

Its on my new Panda 4X4, as I was new to driving it I tried to go with it but at low speeds when it asks for another gear I get vibrations through the steering wheel, so now I change gear when I know the car won't struggle. But for example it asks for 5th gear at 33mph. Only times it asked me to go down a gear was when I accidently put it in 5th instead of 3rd, when entering a slower zone, and when i tried to pull away in 3rd, lol. (I was still rolling, but it did need 2nd). So yeah ok to remind me I could be in 6th when cruising above 50mph but otherwise change at 3000 rpm at earliest. ?

Ours is a facelift TA 105 and I've been amazed by how it tells me to change up to 5th even when I think it's beginning to labour a bit in 4th gear. But when I do change up, it still sails along without any problem.

I think the problem is one of perception, as the two cylinder engine makes a much lower-pitched note than we have grown accustomed to with 4-cyl ones and it makes us think it's revving very low when it isn't (as a glance at the tacho will tell us).

Hope this makes sense, thanks for listening.....
