Won't putting a BOV on when there's a recirc valve in place cause issues with the engine running rich because air that's already been metered is vented to the atmosphere? In the wifes Subaru you can still hear a faint whoosh from the recirc valve when you lift when it's on boost.
 
Right I see what you meen by the BMC mini filter towards the back of the car. Is that a simple DIY mod to do or is it more than simply removing a pipe and refitting a small filter so the pressure can vent to atmosphere?

Also off to the far side is that the open air box which lines up with the vented bonnet?

That's a different configeration to the road car btw, Road car has an enclosed airbox over the engine and draws air from under bonnet not through a vent. The pop off valve as I say is actually at the front of the car instead of the back but it is a 2 minute swap.

There is a video of someone doing it in a car park on Youtube if you have a hunt around.

I have it on mine and I haven't noticed any probs at all. No signs of it running rich or anything. It's just as it was before, but now you get a little cat sneeze! lol

Its in Italian but I think this is the one your mean, two jubilee clips to remove OE item, fit a metal pipe and redo one clip, then fit mini BMC filter to the other end of the pipe that was originally connected by the OE pipe just removed...



Like you said 2min job and now sneezes like a cat (y)
 
Somepeople might like you to think there is a cat with a cold under your bonnet, same reason somepeople fit a back box rather than a full exhaust system....

...It doesnt make the car go any faster but they like the extra noise.

You are not putting on another device, you are simply using what is already there.

Plus these cars do not run problematic MAFs, but MAPs so fuel enrichment is not an issue.

Ah true. But still IMHO it's a stupid and pointless mod which is up there with farty backboxes on small engined cars.
 
Yep :) I think it suits the Abarth really well. All I need now is the chequered roof and GTECH unit and I'll be happy :D

We'll I've got one half now (GTECH unit) and next week its the chequered roof...........and tonight its new wheels/tyres!!

I have to say the GTECH unit is amazing, power delivery is so smooth, but totally mental at the same time! If anyone wants the SS power (with a few extra hp thrown in for good measure) then the GTECH unit is the way forward (y) Definitely worth the £350.
