Hi.

Took delivery of our 1.3 MJ about 2 weeks ago and already covered 400 miles.

My GF took the car to work this morning and a light came on and there is a message on the dash saying Air Pollution Filter Blocked!

Any ideas on what this is and how it can be fixed?

many thanks.

Anti Pollution filter blocked. ;)

It needs to run through a regeneration cycle- either take it for a run about town or leave it idling and it'll do it thing once it's warmed-up (takes about 10 mins and you'll notice the idle going slightly higher and a increase in fuel consumption).

I take it the Salesman didn't tell you about DPF?

Thanks for that. No the salesman didn't mention anything about it!

I had read a little about it on this forum before i picked up the car and had an incling that it may be that, just didn't know that the light came on on the dash and gave you a visual readout.

How often does this happen then?

If it's driven a decent distance regularily you'll never notice it. It's only if it's used for short journeys or switched-off mid-regen that you may experience the filter blocking with the warning lamp coming on.

If it gets too blocked, the engine management lamp will come on too and you'll need to go to the Dealer for a forced regen.

Best way to be sure is take it for a blow out every few weeks, go for a drive out for a drink somewhere or something, it'll do its ting on the way.

I suggest you and the g/f have a read through the manual. It will tell you all you need to know about the car as well as some things you probably didn't even realise about the car. When in doubt, RTFM!
