hi everyone..

i have the 1.4 sport 500, with 17in alloys, and every toy i could buy for it.

now, i want to make it unique outside, i didnt go for the abarth due to everyone having one, so i went with the 1.4 with the option to make it, and tune it to what ever i wanted.

now..
im based in Kent, and i am looking for a company/ garage to tune my 500.
im looking for some advice, and ideas of makes/ products to help.
im looking for a re-mapping, exchauste (sp?), bigger turbo and of course, more BHP.

now another problem im having is i dont want my yellow 500 to look "sporty", i dont like that look, what i do want, is a 500 thats simple on the eye, but really throws the towel at you when you nail it.

anyway, and advice, support, garage names would be great.
Thanks.
Tom

so, you want a sleeper 500. guess what, you need NOS. lol.

seriously, maybe you wanna trade in the car for a VW GTI or something.

nope..

the car has a fiat factory body kit on it, and 17's on her, she is yellow, and has all the toyals i could want, she looks stunning, now i just want a little bit of a "punch" when i get in one of those moods....lol
im by far NOT a biy racer, i would just like say an additional 50-80bhp.
we live down some lane, and on a farm, down the lanes, id like to it have as bit more high end punch, to pull it through the gears better and have the extra power, as i find its all revs, and not alot of torque.

would not want any other car, i bought it for my partner also to use, its by far a funky, modern car, i just wish it had that little more power.

bit of a lame excuse for not getting an abarth - far more people own the 1.4 sport! plus, the abarth can be tuned just as much to what you want - and is in fact far more tuneable in terms of power gains because of the turbo.

still, good luck with your quest :)

Everybody having one? Are you sure? There are only just over 1000 Abarth 500's sold in the UK in a year V's how many thousands of 500's? At least with the Abarth most of the work has been done for you and is capable of being tuned up to 360 BHP! (ok a bit extreme) but there is a UK owner with an Abarth 500 with around 270 to 300 HP. To get that from the standard 1.4 would be impossible methinks.

really?..

well i have sen 4 around my area, and 3 of them are boy racers, who drive grey abarths, and 1 old lady with her white one..lol
( she is cool though )..

so we went with the 1.4 so we could have a different look to the car, ( i think the abarth is ugly )...anyway, now i wish i had more power, maybe an abarth would have been better, but i guess ive learnt. lol
i still think i was o.k with the 1.4, and i dont think it will be to hard to tune.
im not looking to overtake a DB9... i just want more "punch" through the gears.

Hi Tom,

What follows is just to understand, not criticize:

Why choosing a "Sport" instead of a Lounge, and adding some 17" alloys if you don't like the sporty look?

it was an Ex demo model, it had them on it, as with the body kit, as with it all colour coded etc..

the abarth to me looks to "mean/ angry"...lol
out sport looks different, and still "cute" for my partner.

all we require is a bit more power, im just trying to get info on hows the best way to get this done. lol

Alright then, I get it. :)
As for your view on the Abarth, I'm 100% with you on that one, I find it fugly tbh, where the cuteness of the regular 500?
Anyway, I won't be one to help you here as I'm not big on power either (more of a cruiser if you like :p) so good luck for you quest! (y)

see RobW car, he has upgraded his 1.4 with various things, alloys, sports exhaust, lowered etc:)

Rather.

As for wanting more HP down the lanes.... wtf? The 69bhp of the 1.2 is fine for driving down narrow lanes. Country lanes are a place where you want to take it easy, not have more poke, no wonder why the last time I was down in Kent I nearly got killed around every corner when I went off the A roads (n)

Anyway this thread is slightly pointless because if you put a turbo on for that extra 50-80 bhp then you'll need an intercooler and to fit the intercooler in you'll need the Abarth front bumper and then for all that torque you'll be finding that the standard box isn't up to it and that the Abarth box is needed.

Tbh I think that any attempt to get Abarth performance out of a 1.4 with a turbo is going to leave your wallet in a world of pain compared to just getting an Abarth.

If you really wanted the sleeper look I'd think you'd probably be better "sleeperfying" an Abarth, but I suspect that would also be a lot of work. I'm sure I've seen somewhere the Abarth is actually slightly longer than other 500s, I guess because of intercooler fitment or something like that.

Settle down folks.
The OP has already stated they are not experts. So logically there is a good chance some of their facts are mistaken.

Basic tuning can see around 130bhp out of the 1.4. Though it may begin to lose some of it's drivability at this mark.

The peeps at Nuova500shop offer a tuning service, custom made exhausts etc. I've had a couple of conversations with them and they were pretty helpful in explaining stuff to a complete n00b :p, give them a call and explain what it is you're after.
