Hi.

Well I'm finally picking up the fiat tomorrow morning after a 17 week wait! Good job the superbowl is on cus I don't think I'll be getting much sleep!

I would just like to know if you actually get a memory stick with the car or do you have to buy one sperately?

I've got an iPhone and from reading posts on this forum it looks like I'll just be able to use the blue&me to make and receive calls from my phone, if I want to play music from it then I need an adaptor so it would probably just be easier to put my tunes on a USB?

I got one with my welcome pack but it's not too great for music as it 'forgets' that the stick is there every time you turn the engine off. You're better off getting a high capacity cheap USB stick from eBay or somewhere similar.

Yes you should one with the car but it's 256mb or something so not the best for carrying your music collection with you.

What is the procedure when turning the ignition on or off, do you leave the usb in or do you have to remove it at the start or end of your journey?

yea definitely best to leave it in - can have a habit of freezing the whole blue&me if you mess about with it too much... only happened to me once but ive read of it happening to others.

then unless you want a visit to the dealer, only way to fix it is to disconnect the battery for a few seconds which resets it :)

I've experienced pretty patchy use of the USB media player... when first plugging in, giving it some time to read the folder list, etc it plays ok... but after a few short journeys leaving it in I find that the radio will bypass it and go to the cd instead... when i try to access it through the blue and me menu it says its "building media library, try again later" ... easier to stick to mp3 cds for short journeys i think :/

I take my USB stick out and then turn the radio off. Nothing worse than getting in a car and the radio blares out when you start the engine. It also worries me that the stick may get knocked and snap off if leave it in, or perhaps you don't have a four year old like me lol lol :)

I've just bought a really cheap stick for me car. Works great. Playlists are useful on it.

I have little cheap 2gb USB stick, less fluffing around than my ipod, fits nicely in 'secret tray' on the drives side when is bed time, using it for mp3s and ecoDrive (score of 77) had little problem with finding a mp3 encoder that the 500 could read (at first only half of mp3s were playing, just kept downloading free ware and testing which worked)

The only think is when it comes to dismounting the stick, I've had some problems in the past (with computer) of f****in up my sticks via pulling them out to soon  so when using the stick while playing mp3, if i just popin out of the car 5min i just turn car off and just leave it in, with no problems, when starting back up. When leaving the car for longer i just hit me windows button use my voice commands 'media player' then 'stop' before yanking the stick out...:slayer:

With the ecoDrive (on same stick) pop it in now and then, if haven't had it in for my mp3s, wait for message 'eco' message to disappear on dash then yank the stick out... :slayer:
