What are the best protection for rear seats..[mine are leather] when having a dog with you..was going to get one of those Hammocks that tie between the front & rear headrests, but being as the 500 only has 2 doors ,i dont think that will work.

We just fold down the rear seats and throw a blanket over the top.

Dog loves it as he can stick his head over my shoulder and out of the window!

We have a dog crate, the soft sort not metal. Hes only small so its a smallish crate. I have a blanket on the seat, then the crate, which is fixed with bungees to the child seat attachment in the boot so it doesnt rock about. It you have spilt seats and a crate the other option is to put one seat down and the crate on the folded seat side.

I use a travel blanket that i tuck in at the top and bottom of the seat. Ive cut some slots for the seat belts to go through and my dog wears an RAC body harness which has a seat belt hoop on the top. i slip the seatbelt through the hoop and click it into place. The little fella cant get anywhere while strapped in!

If you have friends around just bung the blanket in the boot and youre off! :)

I also have leather seats and a medium size dog. He travels on the backseat a lot so needed a good cover. Have cut and pasted a reply I gave recently on another thread which you may not have seen - hope it helps.

Look at www.overthetop.co.uk - company in Yorkshire I think who make all kinds of protective covers etc for the car and the home to keep things from being ruined by dogs! Follow link to 'in the car' and the particular cover I have is from the 'bespoke' range. It is quilted and has a non-slip backing which you need with leather. The 500 is not listed as one of the makes they have a template for but when I rang the guy he did have a template (website hadn't been updated) and so he knew the dimensions etc already. It is SO easy to take on and off - basically there are two straps which hook over the headrests and the rest is all beautifully contoured to fit the seats and it doesn't move etc at all. It also has holes for the seat belt fittings which is great for me as the kids are often in the back.

They aren't cheap (hate to say mine was nearly £150) but are good quality and they do machine wash. I figured that replacement leather would be more expensive;)

The guy was very helpful and it arrived very quickly. Also lots of other https://www.fiatforum.com/#options available on the website so worth a look.

Do you think they should give me a job?:D:D

Yeah, dogs should always be restrained when carried anywhere other than in the footwell

Not when it hits you on the back of the head at 30 miles per hour because its not restrained. The foot well isn't that safe either, when they panic about something and try to get on your lap while driving or try to get under your legs in YOUR foot well because they are scared. This happened to me many moons ago. My dogs are either in the back behind a dog guard or on the back seat in a dog harness.

I love my dogs and want them to be as safe as I am in the car. Having said that they ain't going in the 500! :D

I'm talking about small dogs in the front footwell with a passenger there to stop them interfering with the driver. and all other dogs in the back.

To be fair my parents dogs are always well behaved and just lay down adn sleep in cars :)

Yes it is great cos as soon as the car moves, he lays down on his blanket so STFU!
