Do you bother to have seat covers..? seems a shame to keep my great looking red leather seats undercover.

Why would anyone pay all that money for leather seats, and then cover them up. Does this actually happen?

Same concept as buying a solid oak dining table and keeping a cloth on it I guess

well you cover it up when you use it then take it off when your not using it.
but I dont think that will work with seat covers.
You could carry a throw over cover for when you are dirty...

Also think it is bit mad to have leather seats and then cover them. Actually they seem to be easier to wipe clean than cloth.

However I have a very posh fitted, waterproof quilted cover for the back seat because of my dog. Letting him on my leather seats in the back was a step too far:) A blanket etc is no good as it moves around, falls off etc and gets soaked easily. This cover is washable, easy to fit and specifically made to fit the 500. It is even the same colour as the leather. At least it is on back seat so not so noticeable!

In your case though I wouldn't bother - just enjoy your red seats:)

I've done 12k in the Abarth, the red leather is a little saggy/creased from getting in/out, but a seat cover would not prevent the leather from doing this, it would only keep it clean, which is pointless as leather is the easiest thing in the World to clean! Leather is supposed to "mature" anyway! I use Turtle Wax Premium leather feed every 2 to 3 months, cleans, gives it a deep red colour again, softens and protects against future wear and tear.

Talking of the seats, has anyone noticed that the suede bits on the back seats where the catch is have faded a massive amount in the sun? Mine are really pale now, whereas the bit that is protected underneath are still dark red. Just an observation!

Link/source for that?

Where did you get the cover?

Look at www.overthetop.co.uk - company in Yorkshire I think who make all kinds of protective covers etc for the car and the home to keep things from being ruined by dogs! Follow link to 'in the car' and the particular cover I have is from the 'bespoke' range. It is quilted and has a non-slip backing which you need with leather. The 500 is not listed as one of the makes they have a template for but when I rang the guy he did have a template (website hadn't been updated) and so he knew the dimensions etc already. It is SO easy to take on and off - basically there are two straps which hook over the headrests and the rest is all beautifully contoured to fit the seats and it doesn't move etc at all. It also has holes for the seat belt fittings which is great for me as the kids are often in the back.

They aren't cheap (hate to say mine was nearly £150) but are good quality and they do machine wash and so far have saved my car getting trashed by the dog. I figured that replacement leather would be more expensive;)

The guy was very helpful and it arrived very quickly. Also lots of other car seat cover options available on the website so worth a look.

Do you think they should give me a job?:D:D
