My first low mileage annual check (fiat insists it is NOT a service as the car does not need an annual service) was £104 at the dealer, and from the invoice only £30 of that was actual labour charge... they even cleaned it inside and out. I don't think that's unreasonable at all is it?
I've been told much the same price at my local dealer too, and bearing in mind the fact that they'll fix any bits that they may find wrong under waranty, plus the saving you're making by not having to pay for an MOT for 3 years, its not so bad really.
It occurs to me that any ford dealer will be able to service your 500 too, given that it's essentially the same as their KA mechanically and electrically, so that could be an option too. I know they've already got the Fiat Examiner diagnostic equipment at my local ford dealers in any case, although I've no idea whether their servicing costs will be lower - probably not much in it, but they may be closer

But if you do over 6k miles in the first year, it needs no attention until the end of the second year or 18k miles... and you can have it done at any VAT registered garage if you don't want to pay for the dealer to do it.

As I chose to do! That was 61,000 miles ago & I had no problems with Warranty claims... food for thought...
as others have said - thats not even really a service, you're paying that for an oil and filter change and a cursory checkover...so even that isnt value for money.
and yep, when you get to the 2nd year service wait for the sky high price for the same thing, plus spark plugs and brake fluid.

I have had 3 quotes from local dealers for the 18,000miles service on a 1.2 with A/C, Simonstone Bristol quoted £200 all in, Pewsham Chippenham £180, Dando's in Chipping Sodbury £160. That's for the full fat 18,0000 miles job, not a low mileage one.

They also change the pollen filter. The breakdown of my invoice was:
Service wash F.O.C.
Labour £30.81
Oil filter £9.41
Pollen filter £14.52
Brake cleaner £3.99
Oil £30.40
All before VAT added. Not sure what the brake cleaner is!
They also gave me a quote for the next two services in case I wanted to pay for it monthly on their interest free scheme... its £342.30. But I'm not shelling out another £24 a month, I'd rather save it myself.

I don't think that Fiat's servicing charges are any more unreasonable than other manufacturers. £200 for a major service is not unreasonable.
Whilst the pros and cons of having a Manufactuer Service History compared to Independent Service History is well known ... personally I will take my car to Fiat.
They made the car, they sell the car, and they are the best placed people to service the car. Not only that, but should their be any recall, or software updates, they normally apply those too.
On the occasion I took my last car to an independent, a number of times I was told they could not do a number of things, and to take it back to manufactuer (Vauxhall in that case)
You may your money, and you take your pick. Interestingly enough, my Astra that I sold when I upgraded to my 500 - I was able to seller it for 30% more, because of its impeccible service history.

My dealer offered me the same for my Indy serviced car as long as I bought another Fiat...
As others have said before, people pay thousands of pounds for their car (mine was £10200-ish when I bought it), which is a technology rich and very complicated piece of kit, and then chuck their dummy out at paying the right people to make sure it keeps running as the manufacturer intended.
I recently had my warranty renewal notice on my washing machine, and for a year it was £120... and for this I get nothing unless the thing goes wrong. And then they come and tell you that you're using the wrong sort of powder or something when it does go wrong. And this is for a machine that would cost me about £300 to replace. So I don't think that a couple of hundred quid once a year (its not even that as I have been quoted £342 for the first two services and the 500 doesn't need a service until 18k miles or the second year) for someone to actually do stuff to my car which cost me over 10k to keep it running properly is that bad.
Can you say amen brothers? Praise the Lord.

Otherwise i would need someone with examiner clone as my MTD needs the oil change light zeroed. The dealer will do that included. I also need a couple of items dealt with under warranty.
I've not had it confirmed that the Ford Examiner clone will speak to the Fiat, so I am happy to use my supplying dealer at this time.
