How do I know when my diesel is running the DPF routine? Is there a light that comes on etc?

I've only noticed a slight exhaust roar which I think is being caused by a DPF regen. Also a big drop in instantaneous mpg reading.

In 20,000 miles I've only had the DPF clogged light come on once and that cleared after about 5 miles of fast driving.

I would like something more positive so that I can keep an eye on it.

These are things i have noticed when DPF kicks in.

  • Your mpg drops like a brick...
  • Takes that bit longer for the instant mpg to reach 99.9 when coasting....
  • The throttle is a bit sensative when coming off power and going on power to sharp.....
  • Rev counter rises a little.....

Think thats about it

Thanks for that Puntostar - I thought that might be it, but wondered if I was missing something more positive.

Cheers

It would have been a good idea if they had put a light on the dash that showed it was going through the cycle.

I thought the DPF prosses would have took into consideration on the level of diesel in the tank? As i ran it so so so so so low over christmas i didnt think i would make it to a petrol station, and what kicked in on the way! Yep the thing had the cheek to do a cycle on me (n)
