General 500abarth price increase...

translation: 'yes, thats right! i bought a 500 but i secretly hate it and wish i could have bought something more expensive. all i can do is argue that cheaper, budget cars are better. yes, thats right! wish id bought a renault twingo, clio is much better, 500 is panda in drag, abarth is crap (well not really but i havent got one, so it is) etc etc blah blah blah'
:life:

Translation: I'm a fool and my 4 posts on this forum have just been pure crap and I can't handle it when someone has an opinion which differs from mine.

I don't think thats 100% true. I think the Twingo looks like a great car for the money as is the Abarth 500. As I originally said before people started arguing "You pay for what you get" :)

Sadly though there are some people who are just blind to other cars and the ways in which they're superior to the 500 and only focus on the ways that the 500 is better.

I have a 500 myself and it makes my blood boil when some 'tard tries to say how unreliable it will be but I don't go around saying that it's a better drivers car than a Mini etc etc because that's just as untrue.

Who are these 500 crazies then? I rarely seem them on here.

As I've said many times on other threads I like RenaultSports and many other manufacturers cars, I'd actually like to own more than one car if that were possible.

I was keen on the Twingo RS before purchasing the Abarth but no way could I live with that interior however good the handling is, which is a personal thing as its not all about outright performance for me.

I also know what a french car handles like having owned a series 2 106 Rallye and have experienced driving much faster cars than the Abarth.

This 500 Panda in drag thing, many cars are derived from another cars chassis thats how things evolve, the Twingo has the old Clio platform but I don't see why this would be considered a bad thing to be honest?

I'm pretty sure 99% of people know what other car options are available to them when purchasing a 500.

No car is perfect and that goes for the A500 there are definitely aspects of it I would like to change, but I still am happy owning it and it ticks the boxes of what I want from a car at the moment.

Maxi - Who are these people ??:bang:. Personally I would love to have a Twingo Cup or a Lotus Exige outside parked next to my 500, but you make a choice. I've not had any car, whatever make, where I have ever thought "right that's it I have found the 100% perfect car, I'll keep this forever."

Exactly and no one's criticising you for owning an A500 because it seems quite clear that it's the best car for you. Tbh if I was wanting to splash that much cash on a car that had a decent engine and handled well I probably wouldn't go for a Twingo RS either but I'd go for something older like a 306 GTi-6, a Clio 172 or if I was feeling silly a Clio V6.

All I get annoyed with is people who go on about their 500 is faster than something it's clearly not faster than, saying how it's 2 billion times better than something it's not that much better than and just forgetting that other marques know how to make good cars too.

I can see where Maxi is coming from.

As we own/or have owned a number of different cars from different manufacturers I am a member of a number of different car owners clubs/forums and you do see certain trends, but there is a certain level of xenophobia on this section of the forum that you don't really see on other forums, though if I was to stereotype it would go like this.

Jap car owners often can't see past Jap cars in terms of reliability which is very often not as good as you are lead to believe. You would be hard pressed to get any of them to consider a Fiat/Alfa/Renault etc as to them they are all unreliable. Though that could extend to anything from Europe.

Some 4WD owners would never, and I mean never consider a FWD car no matter who makes it, they may entertain RWD.

French car owners couldn't consider a Fiat/Alfa as to drive they would be robbed of feedback, composure and excitement apart from when you look at the engine in a V6 Alfa, which will be often from all its breakdowns, and get something that would rust to bits after the electrics melted.

500 owners think there car is the funnest, best looking car ever, which has to be better than a Twingo cos Clarkson says so on the entertainment program that masquerades as motoring journalism, we will skimp over the other forms of motoring journalism that says otherwise, but this is much like someone who says they are "wild" they are almost always the exact opposite.

And above all who cares what it drives like because I will not be looking out the window when I drive because I will be looking as the dashboard because it's so nice. And don't even mention the Clio which is closer in price because its bigger in size, so therefore can't be considered. Or the MINI cos its costs more, or the Suzuki Swift cos its well been around a while now. The Ibiza Cupra cos its like the Clio more expensive basic list price and bigger. Or Corsa VXR cos only chavs drive those even if the dynamically superior GP Abarth is based on the same GM chassis. etc etc

I have found this section is blinkered to other marques and like to run down other cars way more than I have experienced on other forums, is it insecurity. Of course not everyone is like that and I am only sensationalising what is written.

Cars appeal to different people for different reasons, and as such the things that annoy you about what people say about Fiats ie they rust and have dodgy Italian electrics should not be a ploy you embrace about other cars.

Embrace your cars, foibles and all, but don't dismiss other cars because of there foibles, no one is asking anyone to justify there purchase by running down others, otherwise we would all be driving same car, boring, very boring.

Once again who are these people that claim the 500 is better in every way than any other car?????? Logically, if you buy one, then you buy it is because you consider it to best for you.
It's not up to me to make things personal and point out names and so on. I generally try to not make things person unlike people who like to make out that I'm on benefits or something!!!!

just trawl up any of the 500 vs. MINI threads that have been started in the last 18 months, you will see the blinkered blind try to justify the unjustifyable.

i have to say there is a certain something about a small renault, in a shade of blue, with those stripes, that's very appealing:

throw in last gen clio chassis (not too shabby as we know) some wheels to die for for (that's the whore in me):

at the en of the day, it's what makes the warm/hot/mental hatch market what it is, variety and choice.

I'd have all 3 of those Renaults if I could , always loved the R8 Gordini.
Pointless arguing over what is best. It's like saying chocolate ice cream is better than strawberry ice cream, but I still don't see where all these crazy 500 people are.

Just keep an eye out for the people who feel the need to criticise anything else or who feel the need to say that their car is as fast as something it's obviously not as quick as ;)

my 500 is the fastest car in the word, beats anything 0-60, lambo's, porsches etc and mini's are too retro and poo, like bmw thought copying an old style would make them any money...!:D:D Sorry, I couldn't resist it!!! I know the abarth isn't that great, and I don't really have brand loyalty, I'll try anything if I like the look of it and its moves swiftly.

I'd have a Clio 200 anyday but it comes down to money for me... my budget was £14k and my Clio 200 with the options I wanted was over £17k!!! I love hot hatches! After that it would be the VW scirocco or a Civic type R, but I'd need at least £20k for any of those....
