KYB are now doing a twin tube gas rear damper.

I have had a pair fitted to my MTD, the originals had started to thump at 28K.

These are a direct swap for the standard dampers, and I have standard springs.

Initial 100 miles suggests to me that the damper is better matched to the spring so less fight between the spring and damper.
