Hi everyone, some advice would be appreciated.

I received notification from my dealer (Arnold Clark) that the fiat 500 that I ordered at the beginning of October could be picked up tomorrow.

Good news I thought but 60mins later he called to say it hadarrivedinthe wrong colour New Orleans Blue instead of Bosa Nova White. I looked at the configerator & told him it looked bad with the italian side stripe. He said wecould change it for a White stripe which I admit looks better.

What is was wondering was if you thought I could haggle a decent discount as it was quite a unique order or if i was to cancel would I be entitled to my deposit back, the car was ordered via the scrappage scheme & I handed my old car in at the same time as i ordered?

If they have got you the wrong colour then I'm sure you're entitled to at least something back. However, you've now got a really unique colour whereas BNW is everywhere, and you should now be able to haggle for lots of free stuff!

If it were me I'd probably stick with the blue and get them to give me goodies. ;)

What Lloyd said. And it'll look cool with some white sport stripes!

I think you should take a look at the car before you decide that you don't want the Italian stripe. The colour on the site is not really representative of what it looks like in real life. There was a similar car in when mine was delivered and it looked quite nice. IMHO the Italian stripe looks better than the white one on a NOB 500.

Salesman seems worried that we will pull out of the deal or have to reorder & he will be left with an auto that he can't sell. He wants me to pop in on Saturday his next working day & he says we will try to sort something out.

Should I try for cash off or mats etc, what else is there dealer fit apart from a set of 16" alloys as seems most goodies are on already.

Sorry but also ordered the darkened glass at the back & it doesn't look any darker than door glass, could they have forgot to add that as well?

Have you actually been in to have a look?

IN your first post it seems you haven't but in your 2nd post it seems you have?

Thanks for your replies. I popped along to dealers tonight the 500 was on the forecourt & I didn't like the look of the Italian stripe.

The glass didn't look any darker is it noticable, we have a fiesta titanium & the rear glass is a lot darker?

The New Orleans Blue is a nice colour, some say it doesn't suit the 500, but it's what you think that matters, not others. There's somebody on the Fiat forum with a near identical car to this, N/O Blue, white stripe, dualogic etc so take a look at their photo's to give you an idea of how it will look. If i were you, i'd try and get the paint for free at least, it's around £275 extra usually, but you never ordered it!

Well I'd advise to have a look in the daytime before making a final decision though.

The glass on the 2 rear side windows will be slightly darker than the front side windows.

Thanx 306maxi, we will go along on Saturday morning it may be more noticable in the daylight.

I'm hoping the colour will grow on me.

I can't believe the dealer could get blue and white mixed up  Are you sure you want the blue, after all you have paid good money for your car, you should have the colour you ordered. I know I would'nt be happy with a different colour, up to you, but think I would push for what I wanted even if it meant waiting...or maybe they could try and source a white one for you.

I think the Blue looks nicer anyway, have u got metallic for free then? Thats worth about £350. Looks lovely with all the chrome, i cant imagine the stripes would look good though so id go for white ones :D

The salesman hasn't said what's on offer, think he is freekin out that he gets left with it.

Maybe try for 16" alloys, White stripe, mats, blingy keyring, full tank & some cash off for the price we were originally quoted. If you don't ask you don't get.

If they try to play hardball we could walk & ask for our scrappage car back.

I doubt you'll get your car back, it's probably already scrapped. You won't get 16" wheels. I would aim for the white stripe if you want it and perhaps some mats and some petrol. Anything else would be greedy imho and more likely to get you nowhere rather than being reasonable and asking for a few small things.

I wouldn't say it's that greedy considering the poster has paid over £10k and has got none of the options they wanted!

Well they're free to reorder. Ask for the paint for free of course, but don't expect them to give you money when they could easily sell that car now to someone coming in off the street.

If i was spending thousands of my hard earned £££ then i would want the car to arrive how id ordered it.
The point is you ordered white so you should get white.
Personally i would wait a little extra time for the colour you want.
Your going to be looking at it every day thinking " It would have looked nicer in white " (y)

The dealer has somehow messed up the order, presumably if the order was correct they would be taking the issue up with Fiat.

Obviously you will have thought about the colour, did you want white or did it come down to budget, perhaps you fancied the blue but didn't want to pay extra for instance. If you really wanted white then you are within your rights to demand the car be reordered, but you obviously have the inconvenience of an additional wait.

If you take the car you are doing the dealer a favour, unless of course the car s a spec which they can sell on easily to someone else. Having seen pictures of the New Orleans Blue I'd say its not going to be the most popular colour choice.

Worth considering how colour will affect resale.......is that an issue.

No matter what you do I'd be pushing the dealer from some goodwill gestures. I'd normally expect a tank of fuel and mats anyway but perhaps you could get them to pay for servicing for at least the first service.

Still can't believe the colour was wrong.......thats a fine display of numptiness on the part of the dealer.

Complete mess up by the dealer on ordering, But New orleans blue is a nice colour especially with the chrome, but does depend on what colour interior you spec ie tan leather will never go with blue, Think most people who say New oelean doesnt suit the car have probably never saw one properly and too say it isnt a popular colour and reslae may be affected, well that doesnt quite stack up!!

2 points on this 500 is a slightly individul car and rarer the colour the better it gets now who wants a bossa nova white there everywere!! now new orleans blue how many do you see!! ( and actually its almost the same colour if you forget the metallic!! as an old 600 colour Honestly had an old women in our village showing me picture of her first car and she was saying her 600 was almost the same colour, not joking she had been trying to catch the cars us for weeks to show us her pictures!!)

Dealer like Size of arnold clarks will shift it no problems(auto 500 unregistered available now instead of 16 week wait!!)

So if after seeing the car in the flesh and you are happy with the colour, I would go for free set of mats and a tank of petrol as you are already get a £350 option for free!! and if your not happy with the colour get tem to reorder in correct colour!!

Ours is a New orleans blue and we bought it from dealer stock should have been showroom model, and no joking here it had arrived the morning we went in, we paid deposit and honestly they could have sold it at least 3 time while we were in that day (that came from talking to a few people looking at it) now there are at least 4 in a 5 mile radius in the same spec/colour (now need a BNW one as they are not to common around here!!)

I'm one of the people who doesn't particularly like NOB on the 500 but I thought it was alright when it had the 16" multispokes and Italian stripe. Still wouldn't be my choice but it didn't look terrible or anything.
