Hi all, sorry if posted before...my folks bought a 500 as replacement or a knackered golf through the Scrappage last month...initially I was hesitant about the car ...but took it for a spin on a visit to the seaside ..and couldn't get the smile off my face ..loved it!

thing is I now want to go for a 1.2 pop on the scrappage deal, but Vospers ( local dealer) saying cant be done now as they deal will have run out by the time the car is ready. They did offer a lounge but at 2 k more than the pop, its too much ....

am I too late to get a new 500 pop anywhere..have I missed the boat (n)

Any thoughts appreciated.....

Oh yes I'm in South west Devon, and also SW London areas...did email Fiat uk but no answer

Okay ...phoned a fair few dealers....

one in Plymouth says ...no probs...if we sort out this weekend and get all paper work there will be a 12-13 waiting list.....as soon as I sign up this weekend you are part of the scrappage deal(y)

dealer in wales says ..cant guarantee the car will be part of the scrappage system even if we get all documents done in time this weeknd ..as the car takes 12-13 weeks(n)

I am now officially:confused:

Well the car has to be delivered by the end of February I think it is? Personally I doubt this will be possible and certainly no one can guarantee it to you 100%. If it were me I'd just get a lounge now and be guaranteed scrappage rather than taking the risk with a pop. I know it costs more but the extras do make for a better car.

just found this ...think it answers the question

What happens if I place an order for a new car before the scheme closes, but it can’t be delivered till afterwards – will I still get the £2,000 discount?

Yes, provided the new vehicle is delivered within four months of the order being placed, as above.

still is 4 months realistic on delivery ??

Call the number listed and ask for Adrian Hallet and confirm with him because he knows what he's talking about.

Some dealers are ordering cars in.

If you are not too fussed about spec/colours etc you might be able to get hold of one.

We got Mrs G a 1.2 Lounge, BNW black trim from Glyn Hopkin Romford in July within a week of finding it, scrappage too. They turned it all round very efficiently.

You might have to travel though. We travelled form Sheffield, but it was worth it.

Only trouble is I want an Abarth now. Nearly pursuaded Mrs G she needs to upgrade!!

I originally wanted a Pop on the scrappage deal, but was in the same situation as you i.e. factory order and many weeks of waiting. However, my local dealer offered me a 1.2 lounge from stock for instant delivery (thay can't do it now, as they have no stock other than showroom cars, apparently). I'm so glad that I pushed the boat out and bought the 1.2 lounge. Nothing at all wrong with Pops, but if I had waited my MOT may have run out and I might not have been able to do the scrappage deal.

Does not matter about MOTs running out, so long as the scrappage car has one when it is ordered and you have the old MOT certificate to give to the dealer.
