fitted them yesterday and can feel the difference, car is much more sure footed in cold damp conditions (y)

looking forward to the slushy conditions - forecast is for sleet/snow in the coming weeks

initial grip and turn is a bit damped but progressive and enjoyable

running Toyo Snowprox 205/45-16 on Bravo 16"s

from last winter

I've not put snow tyres on mind but I am looking forward to having the place snowed in again this year so I can see what difference the Quaife makes. I suspect I'll just spend a morning spinning alternate tyres before giving up and 'working' from home :)

cheers, yea i really like them too - angular yet curvy

they were an eBay bargain as well - under £200 inc the winter tyres (also ebay) and I have just bought some new style FIAT logo centre to go in them... from eBay :D
Bah! I prefer my 14" steelies with hubcaps :p

Nah i prefer your wheels by a mile but I think a narrower tyre is better

yes i agree, narrower is better for cutting through standing water and slush etc...
these came up at a price too good to ignore though and I have found them to work well in all conditions including snow deep enough to make the front splitter act like a plough

I was gunna say just that, but thought it wouldn't make sense.

Amazing how they look massive, yet they're the same wheels i got on my bravo, which look average.
Interesting. Until you mentioned that they looked massive I hadn't actually noticed that they look visually bigger than 16". Wheels are such an important part of the looks of a car and it's a pity more people don't have taste because there are far too many cars running around with wheels that are just horrible and in particular something that's too modern for the car or something even that's a bit too old for it.

At the end of it all anything that's a winter tyre is going to be a huge improvement says the person who has rims ready for winter tyres but no winter tyres

it's 'cos they car is dropped 60mm and the tyres are a 45 profile (y)

Agreed, the spokes run all the way to the tyres pretty much, leaving very little actual rim, which gives the impression of being bigger, added to the low sidewalls look very nice. First 500 with a red stripe i like too!

I got 4 almost bold tyres on mine, 2 Toyo's at the front, original Pirellis at the rear, they still grip well in the wet/cold (-5 the other night) and i don't hang around, so i'm still baffled by this "winter tyre" myth :p

Just trying to decide to buy what next? Any BOGOF offers on decent tyres at the mo?

Ah the old 'winter tires' argument. I was a field service engineer before I retired and covered an area of northern Scotland - winter and summer - and coped no problem in snow or ice - it's how you drive, guys.

I believe that's why rally cars don't change their tyres depending on the conditions.

Oh wait. No. ;)

What mileage you up to? I recall before the Toyo you scuffed off your Pirelli PZNs in around 3/4 mnths(?) with tracking problems.

National Tyres are clearing Avon ZZ3 205/40R17 via eBay for £76 fitted - & another source are offering 4x Yoko Parada for around £224 fitted, or 4x Kumho KU31 for £169 fitted.
