I'm about to order a 500C (Australian delivery) - car is for my wife and daughters. I'm thinking Funk White/Red roof/white steering wheel/red leather seats. Will that look OK?

Are there any "must have" options?

Anyone else got a 500C on order in Australia? The promised delivery date seems to be slipping....

I think it'll look absolutely gorgeous.

The only thing to think about IMO is the white ambience factor. If you've got the roof down a lot and your roads are dusty the white steering while could get grubby looking really quickly? Only a thought

That sounds like a bonzer choice! Our cinquecento cabrio has red leather/ivory, and we are very happy indeed with the scheme.

It's been a week or two since I was in Oz. You've got me imagining a drive along the G.O.R. in our 500c now, wishing I was there!

Stick with black ambience IMHO. Eribiste, us Australians don't actually say bonzer in everyday conversation you know! You've been watching too much Home & Away and Neighbours by the sounds of it

I know black is probably a better choice than white for ambience but having a house full of sheilas might mean that fashion prevails over practicality.

Get the ivory ambience and buy some cheap leather wipes to keep steering wheel clean. Red leather and funk white looks best with the ivory ambience .. the ivory matches in with the funk white dash and looks lovely.

They both look great.


The rental car I drove to the 'Ring last year had white.

Check the speedo - achieved on downhill autoroute from Paris. I couldn't get that much speed on at the track - too many Porsches slowing me down.

Ivory or black mhh? I don't know, they both look good to me. I like the contrast of the black against the white dash, but I prefer the ivory detailing against the red leather.

Must have options? I reckon you have to have a pair of these for the front wings!

16" cross spokey alloys.

ADR cars come with the 16" Alloys over here anyway so that is ok
get the wing badges, but make sure you put them on the right way, i know of quite a few that arent!
Delivery of the cars to NZ shores are Late jan/Early Feb but it has gone back a little bit too, i think the ship has set sail from Guido and is on its way across though now.
I am a dealer in NZ so get updates every now and then, i'll try and keep you up to date if you like

Oh and the combo you have gone for is a great set up, go for it!

The thing is when you're in the car you don't see the seats but you do see the dash and steering wheel and the black does look better against white. There simply isn't enough contrast between the white and ivory IMHO of course.

Nope, I still think that funk white looks best with ivory ambience. BNW may of course look better with the black, but the OP is ordering FW and it does look better with the ivory.

I also think the black looks smarter. The white will inevitably look shabby after a year or two, while the black looks crisp and the contrast is very smart. With the red leather it is stunning, but I'm not sure I like leather seats - sticky in summer, cold in winter. Never mind, in this iteration I think the black wheel is the smartest too.

The problem is there's not enough of a contrast. It's like repainting 3 walls of a white room in brand new white. If you painted 3 walls white and 1 in a contrasting colour you've got a feature wall and if you leave 1 wall a slightly different colour it just doesn't look right.

Like Ulpian says it's about contrasts and white with beige just isn't enough of a contrast.

mhh, our 500C is exactly the colours / spec you mention. It looks fab. When it eventually stops raining I'll take some pics and post them.

I'm tempted to ask which ambience you have too...

It's with Ivory Ambience, obviously hasn't got the contrast of black but blends in nicely and adds to the retro feel imo. The colour of the red roof seems to have been made to match exactly the colour of the Fiat badge which kind of keeps it all looking tidy. Pic's should be on this time tomorrow.

The Adelaide dealer rang to say the earliest delivery he can do for me is late March/early April.
