hi guys

not sure if im imagining this, but since yesterday (when it got much colder), my engine feels much more rorty, burbling on the throttle, and at 60 particularly having a noticeable resonance-

thing is, dont know if its always been there, and just caught my attention, or new?

its got 6.9k on it now- could this be it running in?....just sounds very throaty all of a sudden- or is something up?

any 1.2 owners care to share there engine/cruising noises with me?

could the cold air be making a difference?..or might my exhaust be blowing?..or am i hearing things!

Colder air is denser air, and the air mass sensor in the inlet tract will pick up on this, resulting in the ECU making minute adjustments mixture & timing wise. Your delicately sensitive ear'oles have probably picked up on the changes.

Hey, I have the same problem! Have 08 plated 1.2 and no problems starting or noise wise last winter, but had few false starts and more 'metallic' sounding noise from the motor in the last month. I was just wandering if it is worth the trip to the dealers or is it just 'the cold thing'... Any more thoughts appriciated (y)

Mine has got noticeably louder over the last few weeks due to the cold weather, I quite like it! It's got a nice sound to it under full throttle.

Might be worth checking under the bonnet to see if your induction piping has fallen off. This happened to me and it noticably increases induction noise. I quite liked it tbh.

i was thinking just this on my drive home today!

thing is- not sure where to look!

I've noticed the Abarth is louder when its colder. Such a sexual noise :D lol It's even better in mutli-storey car parks, I just drive around with my head out of the window smiling!! Ha ha!

That's strange....I've been noticing how quiet the Abarth has been starting up on our recent frosty mornings. I could barely hear the exhausts at all, had to open the door to check she was running! Revs are a lot lower. Any theories?

Guys-

if my exhaust was blowing, would the warranty cover it at 7k miles?

when i open the drivers door and rev, im sure its too rorty, like a sports exhaust....what exhaust tone does anyone else have????

maybe im just too aware of it now??

There is a little hole in the bottom of the backbox to let water out and sometimes it does make the car sound blowy.

wow!!!!!

thanks lloyd!...i think thats the same as mine!-

ill just have get my notebook out into the car so i can listen to yours while i obsessively rev mine!...

seriously, that so helpful!

once i get an idea into my head i find it really hard to shift it!
