The dealer tells me that it will go in December 2009 but I don't know how he would know this.

Also once it ends how will it change the new/nearly new Fiat 500 market and prices?

Thanks

I'm a salesman at a Mazda Dealership, and we haven't been told the scheme is finishing early. Bear in mind though that VAT is due to go back up, and a new "showroom" tax is coming, in May I think. The scrappage scheme has certainly affected the sale of late, small cars. Anyone on a scrappage deal will find it cheaper to buy new, rather than a 6-12 months old car. But values will settle down again, once the scheme has finished.

Scrappage could end tomorrow ot it could go on. Scrappage money is limited to why wait? Just remember that as of yet there is no 2010 500...... it's just rumours at the moment. If you want a car, go out and order it NOW do you can be sure as posible of getting scrappage.

What I should have stated is that the "scrappage" car may be worth around £1000 if I ebayed it (immaculate but 1997 7 series BMW). Its still got lots of life in it as it drives like a new car. Its good but expensive to run and too large but it is a fun (in a luxo barge sort of way) fill in car. I am therefore trying to have my cake and eat it - ie keep the old car as long as possible as it drives well and owes me nothing except biggish petrol bills and a road tax due soon, yet still take advantage of getting double my money for it as we do want a 500. I guess I am trying to keep all my balls in the air at the moment ;)

Its also sad to send such a good car to the scrap yard but its just a question of economics I'm afraid...

I hope that makes sense

Many thanks

Nick

You don't need to give them the scrapper up front. If you don't order soon you won't have ANY cake or at the very least you'll just get your cake later which means higher running costs for longer.

As always..... just bloody order the car!

the last i heard on the news was that the time was going to run out before the money, as the sales under scrappage had finally started to slow.

google SMMT or BBC news and it should confirm the above.
