All,

My 1.2 Pop 500 has the factory fit stereo and am wondering if it is possible to have this replaced with the Interscope version (including the subwoofer). Does anyone have any experience of doing this?

Or, does anyone have any experience of adding a subwoofer to the standard fit stereo?

I know the standard is perfectly fine for most people. I personally would rather slightly more bass in my music. :)

Might be worth finding out if the Interscope sub is available from parts, but it will almost certainly be cheaper to use an aftermarket unit like the Blaupunk under-seat jobbies.

Another (complimentary) option is to attempt to seal the doors using (eg) Dynamat or most likely more effectively using a heavier material like a 5kg acoustic membrane. My door guide explains more - essentially this will make a lot more from the factor system, without adding a sub.

I have used these before:

You keep your standard unit and wire them into your speaker wires to create a phono output for the sub woofer.

The sound is still really good (unless you want a stupidly loud system) and it means you can keep your standard head unit.

All you then have to do is wire a live feed, switched feed and earth to the sub as well as the phono cables.

When I did it I wired it to the rear speakers so I had both the rear speakers and the sub and it worked a treat for years. The boost to the system was amazing (used a JBL 1000w sub and amp in a box) and it was fantastic. I am considering upgrading the underseat sub in my car as its loud, but gives up too soon even with the EQ's and bass turned down and loudness off (after about 20-25!!:D).
