ok 2 real problems with the abarth is the overly massive gearknob and steering wheel

ok the steering wheel i can live with for a while

the gearknob ok i could have the ali fitted but my car is already here with large leather type so no option there

is there an after market job available ??

something half the size would be nice ideas would be great

Have a look on the Momo or Sparco sites and look for a knob which comes with lift reverse :)

I'm mid process of putting a guide together on replacing a standard fiat 500 gear knob with the leather one. I did mine this weekend.

Believe it is the same fit. May assist any ways!

cool stuff link it to me mate in the thread sounds good (y)

not an option but an opinion

don't
I'd agree with that. I suspect it's probably the same size as the one in the regular hatchback and yes it is bigger than a normal knob but there's nothing actually wrong with it.

nice thread on the removal of the gearknob

i'll be back soon as ive driven it for a while just to make sure i want it removed

steering wheel is big prefer the punto wheel from the abarth (y)

I'm hoping for a blue and me dongle that allows me to steer the car using my Wii motion plus controller! It'll be cool because it will rumble when I hit anything.

You could also link up your wii'joyride so you can monitor the calories you are burning too and get a wii fit award for balance or something equally ridiculous..

wii fit - get outside for a jog numb nuts!

;)

I'm with the original poster. That standard knob is uncomfortably big.

After a couple of goes you'll get used to it... I'm sure one or two people on here can back me up on that :)

there is a video, on a dubious website, of a young, and quite fit, lady using a gearstick in a manner no car designer imagined. in that instance i'm certain the adages, "size matters" and "no substitute for cubes" is quite apt......:p
