hi all

just picked up my new 1.2 pop dualogic today and driving it home i noticed that in the eco mode when the car changes gear it has a massive lag. i turned off the eco and it was better but still had a slight lag, however if i drive in manual mode the the gear change is totally smooth. the thing is i have nothing to compare it to so i am hoping someone else has a dualogic and can tell me if this is normal.

thanks alot
happy motoring

Hiya Crazy1,

You're quite right, there is quite a delay in the gear change with the dualogic. At first, like you, I found it quite unsettling, but after a week or two I've got used to it and I don't mind it now. I reckon the changes are sharper when you're giving it the beans in a hurry and it certainly hangs on to the lower gears to help with progress.

thanks for the reply

i cant believe that a car can have that much lag and that the eco button can make such a difference, still there's always driving it in manual
other than that i love my new car.

i always drive with the Sports mode ON... unless i have a baby sleeping in the car.

Got my dualogic 1.2 about 2 weeks ago - and hated it. It seems hellbent to drive in 5th gear - even at 30mph. At this speed, the 1.2 has no power & you can't go anywhere in a hurry.

I agree that in auto mode it takes ages before the gear engages. It changes much better in manual mode.

If I could choose again, I won't choose dualogic again. I have a 59 plate kia picanto manual (1100cc)- it has loads of torque & far better acceleration in comparable gears than the 500. I hate to admit it, but the kia is more fun to drive than the 500. I'd like to think that this is because of the gearbox.

Ive had my 1.2 pop dualogic for 8 months now. I hve never actually driven it in eco mode!!! Its fine in auto I dont find it lingers particularly, and changes up and down as appropriate and as expected. I particularly like the downshift when I am accellerating, and I use a manual shift (in auto) to slow down on steep hills downhill. I actually think gear shift has improved the more miles I have done (now 5k) so maybe it needs to loosen up and bed in a bit. I love my dualogic and am very happy with it!
If you think its not behaving right pop it into the dealers and let them look at it, as it should behave as you would expect. But I do think eco mode is supposed to be slower anyway.
