Have just returned from Fiat dealer and thought anyone with a 500c might find this info useful. Last week my rear heater button stopped working and someone here kindly suggested opening and closing the roof to cure the problem which worked. According to the dealer this has happened a lot to people. From what I can gather, if your rear heater button stops working then the action of completely lowering the roof and putting it up again 'resets' it:confused:

Anyway, might be a useful tip so that if it happens to you then don't assume (like I did) that it is broken. Try the up and down of the roof method first:)

Thanks for the update. I'm glad my little fix worked. It does sound like it may be to do with the sensor so that you cant have it on when the roof is down. At least it's not a major fault.

Yes, made sense to me also that there would be a safety feature to stop you putting the rear window heater on whilst the roof is down and folded. I guess it doesn't always get the message though when the roof is put up again - although to be fair my daughter was mucking about with the roof just beforehand and that might have had something to do with it rather than a faulty sensor;)

Thanks midlife. Our rear screen demister stopped working last week, I checked the fuse ... all OK. Then a few days later we suddenly realised it was working again ... from what you say it seems the roof opening and closing has probably done the trick .... it's the first thing I'll try next time. Cheers! (y)

thanks for that tip Midlife .... I will bear it in mind when I pick mine up TOMORROW:D

Hope the pick up goes well, how exciting. Photos soon please as love seeing these other 500c's! I haven't seen another on the road yet but am sure it won't be long:)

Actually just want to say thanks and point out that it was you who spotted this fix in the first place. Credit where credit is due:)

Thanks for this worked for us too - noticed intermittent problems with the rear demister button not working and checked the fuse in the engine compartment - seemed OK - but then read this on the forum did the open and shut thing with the roof and hey presto ! Saved me a call to our dealership in Wincanton!

Awsome! You saved me a trip to the dealership.(y):D:worship:

Thanks SO much for the info about the rear window defrost! You saved me a world of time and annoyance. I didn't even have to open the top all the way - just held the "close" button, I heard a click and there it was. Thanks a million!!

Having owned many convertibles in the past, even in this weather I try to lower and raise the roof every week. So far so good

Just found this post, the lowering and raising of the roof worked for me too. It also assists in the electronic opening of the boot too. Wife is very happy.:) Pale blue 500c black roof convertible 2009

Hi all I have a fiat 500C 2010 the boot and roof open but the rear heated window does not work, does this mean I have a wiring fault and if so does anyone know where the wiring loom to the heated window is?
I have tried the open close roof but this doesn't help.
thanks

Mines a fiat 500C 2009 59 plate and I had the same issue I came across this last night and tried it this morning and it solved it! I was willing to take the car to the fiat garage to pay for someone to fix it but your fix worked so thank you!!

I'm gonna give this a try myself. Bought a lovely little 'white with red roof 09 plate' for my daughter. She loves it but there are a few little 'niggles' that need sorting. This being one of them. Hopefully this fix'll sort our problem out too. Love this site. So useful and as Chris3234 has said, I bet the dealers hate it! :)

Next, sort the squeaky clutch (lube master cylinder), dashboard heater panel lights (bulbs bought) and get bluetooth installed for music and phone functions.

A dad's work is never finished.
