Hi, picked up my new 500c 2 days ago in the rain. Has anyone noticed that when you open the boot, when it's been raining, that the water runs straight into your boot compartment, soaking anything in there. Great !!! Not.

Other than that...I love it!:D

hmmmm, my puma used to do that and it was a pain ....... have you taken any pics yet elsie? should be picking my c up next week, what colour did you get?:)

Is this a well known design fault of the boot? If so, thanks for the heads up, I'll be sure not to open the boot during and after the rain (y)

I have exactly the same problem with mine, you raise the boot lid and it seems to me that the curve of the metalwork at the top of the boot lid doesn't match the curve of the channel around the boot due to it being raised in a different plane. i.e it only matches in the middle area of the channel, leaving 60% or so (both sides) to pour into the boot. I can't believe this is a basic design fault ... but how else do you explain something so fundamental?

Was going to mention this to the Dealers next time I'm that way.

What are they going to do? Design a new bootlid? I got small amounts of water from the bootlid on my 406 come into the boot when I opened it and it's the same with the wifes Legacy. It's what cars do.

I had a similar problem with this car, water everwhere, any ideas how to fix?

They had boat tailed coupes in the twenties and thirties; this is probably part of the retro thing :p Anyway, I don't suppose anybody thought 'rain' when they were designing the convertible, or winter either.

The joy of open motoring always has costs, and this is one of them.

Keep a cloth handy and wipe the wet lid before opening: fun!

I'm going by the only other boot-lidded car I've got, a 47 year old Morris Minor Saloon ... When you open its bood lid water doesnt drip inside! (water gets in from many other places but not there! ;) )
