Yesterday saw a white Pop which had been lowered and had centrally mounted twin exhaust pipes, the wheels had the normal hudcaps on but the tyres seemed wider, and I thought it looked really cool. I'm a big fan of smaller wheels bigger tyres, and don't really get all this big wheel/ elastic band tyre thing, unless you are adding big brakes they make no sense from an engineering perspective, as bigger wheels mean more unsprung weight which is just poor in all sorts of ways. Do Fiat Do any 14 inch alloys (again they are lighter than steelies) that would acept a wider tyre, that fit the 500? as I may look into buying some next year if I've worn my existing rubber out by then, and I may have the cash to lower as well.

I don't thing the back view of the normal 500 is its best view, but lowered with the bulging tyres and central exhaust it began to look a bit like a Rat style orginal beetle:cool:

Fiat don't do any 14" alloys for the 500 but you could use wheels from a Panda or from an older Punto :) I think the Panda wheels would look quite handsome on a 500.

Standard width of the tyres on the 14" steelies is 175.

ask me next year when you are in a position to buy rather than dream about it (y)

Also meant to mention that OZ do a 6 inch wide superturismo WRC/GT which you could put some wider tyres on which is a 14" rim.

My Junior is runing 6 inch 14 inch rims and 185's with a 70 profile look great, ( only run them at 24 psi front and 26 psi rear so they bulge nicely) might see if they fit the fiat

Looks nice on an old car but I think the baggy tyre look wouldn't suit the 500.

It did on the one I saw, which is what got me thinking
But why would you run your pressures so low? It just sounds like one of the people from the forum who is scared of even looking at their tyres was driving around. Proper pressures please!!!!!!

the proper pressures for the junior are actually lower 22/24 and the car weighs a little bit more 980kg than the fiat, so I think with bigger tyres and a little more pressure it would be alright

Correct pressure for the weight should give a nice flat contact patch when rolling.
Yeah. The pressures cars are running these days just means that you'll never get the same look as on older cars plus the rims are also wider than they used to be and the tyres also have a different shape to the carcass so it just doesn't look the same.
Here's my 504 running slightly wider tyres than standard and with standard pressures. I think you'd have to try and find some 13" Panda steelies which normally run 155's so you could get the baggy look from 175's on a 500.

My brothers ex-Giulia which gives a similar look.
