Well I think it could be an issue. I've had the car a little over the week now and this only happened yesterday and today. I put the 3 button key into the ignition and it will turn to the first setting to turn everything on except the engine (I think it's called MAR) and then after this I try to turn it to start the engine and the key won't physically turn. Now I'm sure it's nothing to do with the steering lock in anyway because i've tried moving that from side to side whilst trying to turn the key and it still won't move in the ignition. I don't know if that sounds confusing but does anyone know what might be going on. The way I got around it was to turn it completely off and then back on again and it was fine

ok cheers Mollie, I just thought it was strange how it wouldn't move at all until I turned it back and restarted the process. I wondered if it had anything to do with it being cold?

Chris this is a known thingy (loathe to call it a problem) in as much that the barrel is very sensitive to key position, if it goes a fraction past the MAR it won't go any further.

Restarting the sequence is the only way to overcome this, unless you are my wife in which case you go straight to starting the engine without pausing to let the lights go out. Ha! Ha!

haha okay, yeah it is a little niggle-type thing. To be honest I can live with it after a few problems in my last car. I do still love this car besides the little niggle of starting up, although I wish I had got the leather steering wheel for the audio controls.

And for non-plastic feel :p

As for the original post it's par for the course. It's a little annoying but doesn't constitute a fault :)

Just be slightly more gentle turning the key to the first position.

Its a lock out to stop the starter being operated more than once per turn of key.
You can imagine the mechanical mayhem if the starter were to turn when the engine was already turning.

Cheers

Oh well I'm pleased now cos I thought it was just me  Have had my Lounge 3 weeks now but only recently downloaded the eco-drive stuff so noticed it when I tried to follow the instructions of turning key but not starting the engine blah blah....

Anyway I had to do the same as you and just turn off and start again and the Eco-drive still won't work :bang: It just says 'updating' then 'usb error' and then the key sticks....so I've given up for now:(.

Good to know that it's an idiosycrasy rather than a fault anyway, cheers lads!:)

Mine does the same.. its annoying in a way didnt have this in any of my past cars... if you forgot to turn it in place it locks.. maybe its a safety feature or something.. anyways you'll get use to it. I did
