Technical When do you re-fill?

Sorry I'm not being dim about filling up..... its just I always understood that its not a good idea to leave it until its very low to refill...and was'nt sure if it was ok to leave it until the last segment to do so.

Don't worry. This may have been the case in days of olde when cars had metal fuel tanks and would rust inside but these days cars have plastic fuel tanks so you don't get collecting at the bottom of the tank.

i always fill up at sainsburys and never have problems. Only fill up at other petrol stations if going on a long journey.

I usually fill up when it gets to between half and a quarter if i can because the nearest sainsburys petrol station is the 'other way' to my way to work.

I was told driving around with the petrol light on doesn't do the engine much good something to do with residue causing rust.

I fill up whenI get to a quarter of a tank. I usually go to Texaco but occasionally Sainsburys. Is Texaco better then? If it is I'll always got there then! I pass one on the way home from work..

Personally I'd recommend getting petrol from ANYWHERE else other than a supermarket. Its cheap for a reason!

I travel over 1000 miles a week for the past 7 years and have tried every single brand of petrol. I've noticed performance increases in 99 RON (for obvious reasons) but not noticed the claim of improve fuel economy. 99 RON in sports cars is a noticeable improvement in the Supra twin turbo and the FTO.....but noticed no improvement in my citroen c1.....well it is a 900cc engine.

Out of all petrol brands I've tried normal BP 95 RON seemed to provide the best fuel ecomomy and Shell 99 RON the best at squeezing out the power. It may differ with other car brands. This is only my own opinion...but I have been a bit anal when it comes to economy with petrol/diesel, due to the distances I travel.
