hi
please can someone help me

my local fiat dealers were fitting my apex springs for a 1.2 sport brand new(-30mm).the rears fitted fine but the fronts were loose on the strut
ie did not need to be compressed back on the strut and were a good 2" short off the top of the strut.
so rang the wholesaler with the spring codes and he says there fine and right for my model.dealers says their wrong ones
anyone fitted the apex springs to theirs
cheers paul

Mark Elvin has

this is sometimes the case with fitting lowering springs to standard dampers - ideally you should tie wrap the springs to their platforms to stop them unseating if you get airborne

the weight of the car will hold them in place under normal circumstances

Your Apex dealer could well be the same one I had trouble with. He advertised 1.2 Apex springs on Ebay. The ones he sent me were for a 1.4.He insisted they were the same even though the codes are different. They are not the same. The sod also refused to refund my return postage.

apex themselfs said there fine and the chance of going airborne are very slim, the dealers even said if i went over speedbumps i would have problems, antway will get them fitted elsewhere
cheers mate

To be honest the standard springs barely had to be compressed to get them off the strut.

And let's face it, I've got a 1.2 so the chances of getting airbourne, (even on the Military Road RobW), are slim.
cheers mark thanks for the info will fit them myself as the dealers have washed their hands with them.
sometimes dealers can be a pain in the ar*e

lol :D Good man :)

I try not to get airbourne in the VXR as the Quaiffe LSD doesnt like it... Nurburgring is tricky as there is a couple of notable crests which involve negative G and require your Private Pilots Licence :D

that makes sense. 1.4 be a tad heavier hence that extra room on the springs

Not seen under the 500, but recently saw my GT junior on a lift and it has Axle straps, on the back axle, to stop the axle dropping too low from body when airbourne so that springs may lose their proper location, don't modern cars have such things?
