Now that the 500 is approaching 3 years old and the spectre of invalidating the warranty is disappearing are any of you early adopters considering tuning their 500s?

Jnoiles will back me up here in that the 500 has a huge potential waiting to be unlocked and for around £1500 you can turn your docile supermini into a hot hatchling

There are now several options of suspension packages available (not just springs), some good brake upgrades and I don't need to mention remaps and induction kits ;)

I was speaking with the ed of a well know tuning magazine last year and he was confident that the 500 would become hugely popular in a few years in the modified scene once they hit the magic £5k price and a look on eBay reveals damaged repaired CAT D cars for less that that!

The Cinq Sporting developed a huge following in the modified scene, when will the New 500 follow suit?

Rob, I was going to have mine remapped and a suspension kit fitted but due to the problems with the DPF I have decided to keep the car only until the SGE twin turbo multi air is released and then I will P/X it.

I think there's certainly a lot of potential. I went out for a drive today and had a bit of a thrash over the Denbigh moors and the car quite enjoyed being pushed and seemed happier at speed around bumpy corners rather than coasting around and other than one moment where the steering went a bit light and I needed to straighten up the wheel it was really good. Now with proper suspension it'd be even more of a hoot.
