I think the one issue that I would worry about with a retrim is how the air bags would deploy if the retrim has only been stitched onto the existing cloth seats rather than stripped back to the foam etc...where as the fac fitted leather you can rest assured the bags will deploy.

Definitely. I know Spoons says his people say it's fine but how many tests have they done where they've actually crashed a car and made sure that the bags deploy and more importantly deploy properly?

Heh, how many you seen posted on this site???
The pics I posted back in Feb are poorly lit and bad - res, But in my opinion there every bit as good as those...Each to there own at the end of the day.

True but I just don't like the design at all. But of course as you say it's all personal preference and I do apologise if I've insulted you and your leather at all as that wasn't my intention.

Custom fit leather or factory fitted. But which is best? Theres only one way to find out....................FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT! :D

Agreed, I doubt they run NCAP tests once the leather has been retrimmed - lol

Which is probably a good reason to steer away from them if you've got nothing more than their word to say that the airbag is going to deploy properly and do its job.

No worries 306maxi I can totally sympathise nobody likes their car being dissed. As far as I can see mine have been stripped down to the shell of the seat so therefore the new trim "should" act like the old but..I dunno, the only way to find out is to broadside another car I guess...heh

I'm sure it'll be fine but personally it's just not one of those things I'd muck about with tbh :)

Fair comment :D

Also, if you have the car retrimmed then its modified and the insurance need to know about it. This in turn can lead to higher premiums or not being able to insure your car at all with some insurance companies.

So, its sometimes best to stick with the manufacturers leather option, if you dont want the hassle

Nothing wrong with how it looks from the factory either :yum:

I hope the owner doesn't mind me posting this image, but I think retrims aren't a bad option - especially if you want something a little different and the quality looks pretty good too

... can I go back to being excited about receiving my new car again now....

Back on topic :D

COME ON........... :slayer:

Yes you can:)

I have ordered leather seats but don't really care if they are backed in PVC or old copies of 'The Sun' as will just be so relieved to finally get the car.

5 months for me so far. Have alienated all members of family and friends in process so will have a lovely new car (I hope) and no mates:)

Just ordered some Eibach Pro-kit 30mm lowering springs... good job as they are going to take 3 weeks to arrive as well !!

Why is there such a waiting time on everything :)

Just checked with my dealer as i was worried about the delivery going over the 4 month deadline for scrappage and my car is now built status 30 (in-transit) At dock waiting to get on a boat. The estimated date in uk is 28/09/2009.... so that was a bit of a shock i am looking at about 11 weeks from order to picking up from dealership. (y)
