I think you should get a specialist firm to retrim the interior. Thats what I do.. had a few cars in the past done now.yes 5 spokes so you canget your hand in are miles better.
My dealer says i should order leather as it will be well worth it.???
whatdo you think.
What do you mean by PVC backing?I think you should get a specialist firm to retrim the interior. Thats what I do.. had a few cars in the past done now.
I use Classic Car Services in Leicester and you can choose your leather grade, colour, combinations, design, stitching, piping, perforated, carbon effect... allsorts....
When the interior is finished, its completely custom to your design spec and 100% leather... not leather facing and PVC backings...
The whole car smells of leather for months.... years even
The whole process is an exciting experience, for you to get creative
Most car manufactorers now charge you for leather interiors. BUT, only the facing parts of the seats are leather. ie everything you physically sit on (the seat base and the seat back). However, everything else is PVC... ie the back of the chair, the back of the headrests, the lower sides of the chair... even most of the door panels can be mostly PVC, with a small strip of leather on the door arm rest. What do you mean by PVC backing?
The door panels on the 500 are PVC but I'm fairly sure that the whole seat is leather. Most car manufactorers now charge you for leather interiors. I cant confirm today if Fiat are the same, but I cant see why they would be any different
Why do you think you dont get a huge waft of leather smell when you open the door to these cars... cos mostly its PVC !!
Bet it isntThe door panels on the 500 are PVC but I'm fairly sure that the whole seat is leather.
How wouldst thou suggest I check if it's leather?Bet it isnt
Anyone with leather seats (factory fit) go and check
It'll be PVC Look under the back part of the chair from underneath if you are not sure.. There is usually a part you can identify
Even prestige marks are doing this now... its a con in my opinion as some charge around £2000 for these interiors.. !!
Call Fiat and ask themHow wouldst thou suggest I check if it's leather?
Huh? You always buy a customer leather interior because people ask how you check if it's indeed leather? This is why I get mine custom made, its always 100% leather and costs around £1000 to £1200 for a large sized family car. Usually £4-500 cheaper than the factory option.. and the custom interiors always are so much better, with the same quality finish as you would expect from the showroom
Neither the dealership now customer service will know whether the seats are full leather or PVC backed. At the end I don't actually care because my seats are far better looking than any of the custom jobbies I've seen posted on this site.Call Fiat and ask them
Would be interesting to see what you find?
So you come on here saying that half of everyone's seats are PVC and when asked how someone would go about checking whether it is PVC or not you simply skirt around the issue. Congratulationslol, just expressing my opinion. .. and experience
Glad you are happy with your red PVC anyway :yum: ... looks nice in the picture

Oh dear, you gone and upset yourself again chap... easily done isnt itI cant confirm today if Fiat are the same, but I cant see why they would be any different
Airbags are not compromised, I've had this discussion with them already in the pastI think the one issue that I would worry about with a retrim is how the air bags would deploy if the retrim has only been stitched onto the existing cloth seats rather than stripped back to the foam etc...where as the fac fitted leather you can rest assured the bags will deploy.
Nope, was trying to be helpful stating who I've used in the past, it saves all the PM's later when people read posts. Doesnt matter to me one bit where people spend their money.Yes, I also noticed this. £5 says;
b) He works for/has a connection with whoever he recommends for recovering.
