General Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari

Had an enquiry yesterday from a chap that wants to buy two of these, so being my usual ignorant self (didn't even know it existed until yesterday!) I asked Abarth UK what the official line is...

The reply I got back basically said that they cannot yet confirm full UK specification or pricing, nor when the release date will be (n)

They did, however, point this out to me that was tucked away at the end of a letter sent out to the dealer network in March:

Abarth 500 695 Tributo Ferrari

For those dealers who have prospects wishing to place deposits for the New Abarth 500 695 Tributo Ferrari, they should take deposits at their discretion.

Upon receipt of an initial order/ deposit, the dealers should retain accurate records of the transaction, including the date of the initial order.

Closer to the commercialisation of the car, we will compile a central database of all initial orders and, in consultation with yourselves, re-contact each customer once final specification and pricing have been announced. At this point we will ask customers to confirm their intent and leave a further deposit where appropriate

We will respect the chronology of initial orders/ deposits placed when allocating vehicles to customers, and reserve the right to audit your records for verification.

Dealers should make customers aware that there is very limited supply of these exclusive cars and not all orders will necessarily be fulfilled.

Abarth UK and Ferrari S.p.A reserve the right to critique potential customers and decline to supply at their discretion.

So, anyone that has their name down for one/wants one, let's hope you are considered worthy! :p

Otherwise they might suggest you look at a Panda from the same factory in mama mia Polando

Wow that £37150-39120  with VAT at 17.5% (but going up to 20% in Jan 2010!)

Future collectible for sure, thing is, you would have to keep it mint for 50+ years to get some money back! :p

Nice motor, but I'd rather have a brand new Elise for a lot less thanks (i think?)

I remind you that these cars start life as a normal stock A500 base spec, they then get shipped from Poland back to the Abarth workshop in Italy where they are stripped out and rebuilt with all the other components. So it's probably more Abarth than it is Fiat! (what have i just said....)

*sigh*

Do you actually believe this? The build quality of a car that has been built, taken apart and then re-assembled by hand in a factory not designed with new vehicle production in mind will be crappy. The Abarth facility is there for the preparation of competition cars, this is a completely different thing to a production line. No one that's going to pay £30k for one of these is going to accept the crap quality that will come with a car being built twice.

If Abarth are building the cars twice over then they're bigger boneheads than we already know they are.

I think they are clearly aimed at those for whom money is no object where 30 grand would be small change. It's all relative, if you have sh*t loads of money then it would be a very nice toy.

Definitely. I quite like the look of them from the outside. If they did take a tumble in price I reckon they'd be a good buy as they've got stonking brakes, nice wheels, nice paint, a decent engine, nice seats. All it needs is some of the badges removing and a proper box to set it all off and you'd have the perfect 500.

Abarth have taken orders for over 600 Abarth 695 Tributo Ferraris, apparently with around half that being supplied to the UK, France and Germany.

Formula One drivers Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso have been given one each (see photos)

Can't stand F1 so have no idea what or who you're talking about sorry!
Basically Felipe Massa was in front of Fernando Alonso and Fernando was crying like the spoilt little bitch that he is and the team ordered Massa to move aside. Team orders are banned in F1 but they just went ahead and screwed Felipe out of a win on the very same Grand Prix where last year a spring hit Felipe in the head and nearly killed him. :tosser: Tosser smilie is of course not aimed at you btw.
