But not delivered as economically it it might be. The new Mito Multiair has 170, which could probably be upped to 180, as if that really mattered, and it has seemingly fantastic driving characteristics.

Within a couple of years all Fiat group engines will have the new technology, which is why I say it looks obsolescent.

I know it will.

My point is that the new Multiair Mito engine (which the Abarth GP does not have) to be launched at Frankurt, delivers almost as much power with better economy, lower CO2 and very enjoyable (so I've read) driving characteristics.

Abarth will probably switch to the Multiair engines soon.

It's only obselete to people who are obsessed with technology. If you have the decision between ordering a 1.2 today or ordering an SGE with multiair tomorrow of course you're going to choose the SGE but with 170bhp this car will still be just fine in years to come.

Looks similar to the Ferrari edition Abarth, or is it the same car? Quite confused now. To be fair, i know at least 3 millionaires with an A500 so doubling the price, even tripling, is not going to put these kind of people off!
Rich people didn't get rich by wasting money though

My own concerns major on economy: I like the idea of combining performance with the lowest possible costs. Obviously many people only keep a new car for a year anyway, and so for them such concerns are irrelevant.

If I was in the market for a small performance car in the spring I'd be tempted by the Mito, and then I'd probably go for the 135 hp version because this would give me my ideal combination of power and economy.

I don't intend to rubbish the new Abarth, just point out that by this time next year it will probably be running with a very different engine. It will do very well I'm sure since it is intended primarily as a fashion item.

Well the thing about performance cars is that the people that buy them aren't typically the sorts who buy cars for economy so while yes the current engines will be superceded it probably won't matter much to the people who've bought them other than for the power increase.

I would have quite liked to have an SGE multiair in my 500 and would have gladly waited for it to launch if scrappage was going to be available then and I also probably would have bought a 1.4 multiair over the 1.2 if it had been available but it wasn't so I just went for the 1.2.

If you are always waiting for the next best thing or a slightly better revision you will never end up getting anything :) You've just got to buy what best suits you at the time.

And a view of the rear. Mmmmmm quad exhausts and venturis.

For a 1.2 Pop? LOL. And as for anyone knowing the price of a bodykit for a model which has only just been announced. Also LOL

Yup... for a 1.2 :D

The Fiat is my 'city' eco car... I've also got a 300 BHP monster with 400 Lb/ft to play with when I get bored :D

But I would still like my 500 to look good :D
I've got something faster to drive than my 1.2 as well but I'm still not going to make my car look silly. With the wheels, bodykit and paint that looks nice. But if you had the wheels, bodykit and paint you're still going to have teensy weensy 1.2 brakes and also drums at the back.

Oh... so you're the forum troll are you... there's always one.

Thanks for making yourself known so early :D ...
Many people say this :) I'm just the forum person who says what everyone else is thinking but is too polite to say :)
