General How long till the engine loosens up?

Hi all

Stupid question - how many miles on average until the engine loosens up enough to be able to use hard (when needed). Ive had Mario now for one and a half months and 1800miles and still haven't taken him over 3,000rpm really.

I know with technology nowadays you shouldnt need to worry about keeping low revs etc but i want to get the most out of my little 1.4 sport as don't intend on getting rid for a very good few years.

start to rev it out and load it otherwise it will glaze the bores and use loads of oil

the fun starts at 3500

When you say fun starts at 3500 - do you mean revs or miles?

mine noticably loosed up at 5k and then again at 8k miles

In that case roll on 5k. I must admit the fast start with sport mode from standing is good apart from you go through gear 1 in about 1.25secs!!

it's a fantastic engine and gearbox combo, close ratio box needs stirring to get the best out of the engine but the rewards are well worth the effort

After about 8k and an oil change..... you can give that little engine full death

mine will take 4 years

to run in as i only do 2000 max per year.
