I just wondered what sort of delivery times people are getting. I ordered a 1.2 Lounge a couple of weeks ago and was orginally told it would be delivered by the end of November, then the dealer phoned me a couple of days later to say it would be more like the end of January! I phoned today to ask if the part exchange price would be affected by the delay (apparently not!) and whether the price for the Fiat would increase if VAT went up in January. I was told not to worry as they anticipated that the car would be ready by the end of the year and that January would be worst case scenario. What has everyone else been told???

hey, I saw your post and figured I'd let you know what I was told. I ordered my 500 1.2 pop from the fiat dealership in wakefield with the scrappage scheme incentive. When i went around to the dealership to order one I asked about the 500 and he said that they had one currently being built but it hadn't been sold as yet so I put my name to that one. After I finally got all the paperwork sorted he said it would probably be about mid october and this was about 3 weeks ago. I'm just looking forward to getting it now, although I'm not looking forward to cancelling my insurance on my 306 and getting new insurance for the 500, could be a pain!

Hi - I ordered a 1.2 Lounge on 1 July and was originally told 1 September delivery. However, it's now forecast for end of September or poss early October boo hoo so............ if you read many of the posts on here you'll see that the dates are 'flexible' to say the least!

I hope you'll get yours sooner rather than later but be like me and don't hold your breath!

Why will the insurance be a pain? My 500 is only £40 more than my 13 year old Fiesta was...
Mine was 11 weeks but I ordered June (picked up yesterday at 12 weeks but it arrived a little earlier)

Hi, I ordered my Pop 1.2 on the 27th July ( I'm buying it on the scrappage scheme), and they told me it would be 10 - 12 weeks. I spent about a week finalising my order, so the last time I spoke to them was the 3rd august. They said they'd call me in a couple of weeks from then with updates, however I haven't heard from them since so who knows!? I'm expecting it to be longer than 12 weeks.

I ordered mine on the 7th August. At the time my dealer told me that the system was predicting week 46, which is twelve weeks from the order date. I changed my order from a pop to a start/stop a couple of weeks later, but the dealer said the predicted date was still the same. Twelve weeks seems to the top answer, but there are obviously exceptions to this. I haven't had any phone calls warning me that it will be longer than expected.

I just meant that it will be a pain int the sense of going through and getting quotes etc. I've only had a license since march 2008 so the insurance keeps coming back as being over 1k for the year but i'll have to cope with that just so I can have the car that i want :)

Just use www.moneysupermarket.com takes about 5 minutes and you've got all the quotes you need.

Most dealers don't call every week or couple of weeks cos theyd be telling you the same thing week after week. I called my dealer every 1-2 weeks for updates and he was always really good-however a lot of the time my car was showing at the same status, but that wasn't his fault. Once my car was in the country my dealer kept in touch with me every few days to let me know what was happening and to arrange when I would be collecting it. I personally don't think you can ask for much more!

Thanks for the replies - so it's just a case of "wait and see" then! I'm just going to think I have to wait until end of Jan then anything earlier will be a bonus! One other thing... on the scrappage scheme, when can you take your car in - is it on the day you collect the new car or can you do it before?

I think you can do either, I'd just ask the dealer when you go in. I myself needed my car until then because of my part time job being about 6 miles away and I now officially hate the bus service.

Yeah, I wasn't complaining, just stating what the dealer told me ie "I'll call you in two weeks time to update you". I didn't ask him to, and I'm sure if there was news he would call me – which is why I haven't called him either!

hi ive just ordered a new 500 0n the scrappage deal can anyone shed any light on how long it will take for the paper work to be processed as the garage ive ordered from has a car in stock.

We ordered a 500C on 17th July and were advised that our delivery date would be early October. I've checked with the dealer today (030909) and the projected date for arrival in the UK is now 28th September. i suppose we just await domestic delivery and PDI after that. I really do look forward to taking this little jewel home!

My 500c must be on same shipment as that is the date I have also been given for its arrival in the UK. Your post has made me feel a little indignant - not at you of course - because I may as well have ordered mine in July as ordering in April doesn't seem to have got me anywhere any faster. I could have held onto the deposit for longer.

Let's hope we won't have to wait long after the 28th:)

All those deposits in the dealers accounts gaining interest. Crafty monkeys

I did! Back when the hatchback came out I went for test drive at same dealership and they were only asking for a £500 deposit at that time.

I was told they have had many incidences of people ordering cars and then changing their mind and not wanting the car which then left them having to try and sell it on the forecourt. This was why they now required a larger deposit so as to put people off doing this. Actually 6 months on I am seeing the funny side of it because having now experienced an unbearable wait for the car I suspect it was more likely a case of people getting fed up and giving up waiting:D
