General Anyone ordered recently?

I did! Back when the hatchback came out I went for test drive at same dealership and they were only asking for a £500 deposit at that time.

I was told they have had many incidences of people ordering cars and then changing their mind and not wanting the car which then left them having to try and sell it on the forecourt. This was why they now required a larger deposit so as to put people off doing this. Actually 6 months on I am seeing the funny side of it because having now experienced an unbearable wait for the car I suspect it was more likely a case of people getting fed up and giving up waiting:D
Fair points I guess :)

Oh dear. We paid a deposit of £762.69 leaving us with the round £14,000 to pay on the big day. And no discount neither! I can hardly believe I did that, has my head been turned by my heart?

It must be because they're such good looking little cars I reckon. This piece of automotive art is one of a very few cars I can think of that looks good from every angle. Most other cars, however good looking, have some awkward angle or other, but not the nuova cinquecento. Purely my subjective opinion of course!;)

yeah, when I went about 3 or weeks ago the dealership wanted £200 quid deposit from me. I was a little surprised about the desposit at first but I figured it wasn't bad to make sure I got the car. I'm just waiting for the call now, although it'll be ages off yet.

I don't even like to admit how much of a deposit I paid! I think my head was definitely turned and am so in love with the car that there was never any chance I would have second thoughts. The long wait has been annoying and unbearable but hasn't made me less enthusiastic:)

Why would you be surprised at the deposit? If you didn't have to put a deposit down people could just walk away.....

hi i went to my local fiat dealer about a month ago and asked about the 500 and the only one they had was a top spec c so i asked how long for a mew one and they said about three months so i left it for about two weeks and went back just as the new stock arrived which was about six new 500s and as i couldnt wait three months i brought one out of the show room which is a better spec than the one i was going to order. anyway sorry to ramble on just thought ide tell you that i couldnt wait that long for a new car it would kill me (y)

I wasn't asked for ANY deposit! When I queried it with the dealer (after reading some of the posts on here) he said that they look at each case separately......and I had been a very easy customer!!!!! Hmmmmm

But maybe they could see I was so desperate to have a 500 thatthere was no way I was ever going to change my mind, regardless of the wait!! (Ordered 1 July, still Status 30 - having been told in error on 5 August it was Status 40!)

When I first went in, I was told I would have to pay a £500 deposit but when I ordered they only asked for £200.

I ordered mine in July and told 12 week wait - end of Sept or early Oct was advised -Had a call from the Dealer about an hour ago stating my car is now built and would be with me at the end of this month - I'm hoping that is the case but won't be suprised if there is a delay. Its going to be worth when it comes :D

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but our dealer quoted 12 weeks (ordered start of July), but it's turned into 18 :-(

It will be worth it...........

I'm beginning to think the longer the wait the better because:

a) the sooner the 500 shows up, the the sooner I have to part with my money.

b) the sooner the 500 shows up, the sooner I will scratch it/damage it in some way/find something wrong with it.

c) the sooner the 500 shows up, the sooner I have to part with my trusty and beloved '94 cinquecento SX which is due to be squashed!

Just don't forget you have to pick up the new car within 4 months to qualify for the scrappage deal so don't leave it too long.....

Yeah i know what you mean this will be my first brand new car and i know if i get a stone chip or parking dent in the door i'm gonna flip. i'll probably end up parking miles from where i want to go just coz there are no other cars parked around.

Why will the insurance be a pain? My 500 is only £40 more than my 13 year old Fiesta was...
Mine was 11 weeks but I ordered June (picked up yesterday at 12 weeks but it arrived a little earlier)

mine was only 60 quid more than my 11 year old daewoo matiz 800 cc and I've got the lounge! the pain in the bum is the 'admin fee'

Am already trying to come up with devices that zap anyone even remotely coming close to scratching mine....
