I have to point out that the intermittent windshield wiper is not as intermittent as I would like it to be. On the 500 it is barely 1 sec before it wipes again, for me that is too much. Is there anyway in which you can change this?

What I do at the moment is I turn the wipers off and just push up the lever when there is lots of rain on the shield.

Advice please!

Isnt the timing of intermittent wipe on the 500 the same as on the Grande Punto...? I.E. speed related.

Mine has a shorter delay the faster I drive, 1 second at 70 mph, but longer (maybe 3 -4 seconds at or below 30 mph)

Interesting, I have never really noticed! I was driving along the motorway at 70MPH (ISH) I will wait to see what everyone else says.

:) They will say the same lol! Try it for yourself I say (y)

I purchased some windscreen protector spray thingy madgig (good at this techincal cleaning thing :)) from Lidl as suggested on here somewhere. The rain just slides up the windscreen and greatly reduces the need to use windscreen wipers, especially when it's just spitting. Maybe try some of this - or I'm sure there are other brands also available :)

It is definately speed related. It is however slow and there are times when its too slow for it to keep the screan free. Nothing you can do but turn it on to slow or keep manually flicking it untill it starts to rain hard (which it will this summer) !

It is speed related, but very annoying. If you're driving through patches of rain it would be nice to be able to adjust it instead of just having them going mad whenever you're on the motorway.

Thanks for this advice, next time I am shopping I will pop in some of this stuff (without the wife noticing of course) and watch the rain disappear!.

Notts: Yes it is very annoying indeed, good to see that it is speed related and not the fact it has stupid winddcreen wipers!

LOL

suggest you guys try an 1996 Cinq Sporting

3 speeds

off

intermittant with 2 sce pause between

xxxxing fast :slayer:

I had a 1993 1.1 Metro as my first car. You had 3 options on that too;
Off
On
Fast

It had no rear wiper and if you wanted to wash the windscreen you had to use the jets and then put the wipers on yourself for a bit. Not having intermittent was a nightmare though, you had to manually activate them every few seconds in light rain :bang:

I've noticed that my wiper manages to sweep every part of the window perfectly.....except for a bit in the middle where it leaves a smudge. Right at eye level. Most annoying.

i have this exact problem, and i cannot be more annoyed about it! i had it in to be fixed. they corrected the streak, and then i got a massively juddery wiper. so i asked them to fix it, and they r so kind enough to give me the streak and the judder!
