hi guys

just wanted to say hi, and how much of a pleasure it is to be a part of this exclusive 500 club!!

wanted one since they came out!!..and on june 5th, it finally happened!!

will get some pics up soon!!

does anyone else on here have the start and stop model?

hi guys!!

well to avoid the too long wait for a factory order, i had the brand new showrom model they had put in the day i visited!- showroom visit to my driveway- mon to fri pick up! 4 days!!

its white, lounge spec with parking sensors the only extra-

how would i know what white it is?- is this on the log book some where?

the only difference to the lounge is that you get the start stop in place of the glass roof- so loads of extras!

i first looked at ordering in jan after going on the 500 configurator and falling in love- specced up and very nearly ordered a black 1.3 m-jet sport with 3k extras!!!

moved house instead, the obsession never left me, and 6 months later i have my new baby!

the stop start has been a great function (tho is going back to be looked at as intermittently not working!), the fuel economy great, and the shift indicator useful for improving the eco drive rating!

i love it!!!!..once the gremlins are out of the system i will love it even more!!!

Sounds great. Congratulations! I ordered yesterday and have approx 89 days to go

Which bit doesn't work? Does it not stop or worse does it not start when you try to pull away??

hi!

some times it fails to re start first time (5% of time?)- but will turn a second time and you can then make progress- but more worrying is the warning light which comes on-which makes stop start completely out of use- not a normal function- if i stop, and restart it clears it.- at other times if battery is under load or car is still warming up, it is unavailable anyway, which i knew as was told on my delivery day.

sure just a gremlin, booked in next friday-

what are you getting?

Just slightly worrying i imagine when you put your foot down to pull away and nothing happens!!

I'm getting a 1.2 Lounge in Bossa Nova White, with a couple of extras.

And (when it works) is it instant or does it have to 'think' for a second? The thought of gunning it to join traffic and then finding a momentary delay wouldn't be good for my heart.

I like the idea in principle by the way.

I looked into this alot before ordering.

It is 'instant' in that you can't lower and raise your foot fast enough on the clutch to catch it out.

It does work with a/c as it uses a special battery... however, if idle for too long it restarts to save stalling or battery failiure.

So it sounded great... ordered... Then told it can't have the interscope system because the power system can't handle it... so went for a sport :p

hi guys

you can turn it off- but defeats the object!-

when you pull away it starts as quickly as you can depress the clutch, so, its as quick as taking the car out of gear and putting back in-

however- i had become someone that always stayed in gear at lights etc...so to take advantage of start stop you do have to relearn basic techniques..

if the battery is under pressure you get a notice in the centre of the dial 'stop start unavailable'- ie using wipers at full setting, different combinations of electrical devices..in reverse..

when you cannot beat it is stuck in traffic-a nice little glow of smugness ensues when you are not using any fuel at standstill!

would i have ordered it if i had been prepared to wait for a factory build?

perhaps not- i like the glass roof more!!...but its a great colour and spec and was there looking at me in the showroom...so i snapped it up!

but hey, it has won an award already- 'what car green car of the year up to 13k!!

I don't know if anyone has seen but on Ecodrive it now shows what your S&S savings would be if you had it. Over the last 630 odd miles I've been driving S&S would have apparently saved me a whole pound and 26p!!!!!!! Now that's not to say S&S would not work well for people driving in start stop situations but for someone like myself who drives 60 miles a day and rarely comes to a stop for any length of time it's not worth it. I'd like to see how much Ecodrive says a person driving more in city situations would save?

i think the mpg quoted is about 4mpg better overall- the co2 saving is 113g/km compared to 119g/km-

none of this is monumental, but every little helps!!

Only if you're doing stop start driving though.
