I phoned the dealer yesterday as the navigation buttons on my steering wheel appear to have given up :( When using my memory stick I cannot switch tracks or search for anything - the only time they will work is when I listen to the radio and can switch stations.

The dealer advised that they can re-synchronise the car and I need to buy a Blue and Me compatible stick so i can put a few albums on and they can re-test after they have done the work.

What stick should I buy as they are collecting the car on 31 July and I need to get it before then

there was a list of recommended memory sticks somewhere - i think its in the larger of the two B&M manuals - there wasnt a huge selection though and i have found this is a Bravo manual:
"Compatibility
Music files in the following formats can be recognised by Blue&Me:
•
.wma

•
.mp3

•
.wav
Files with digital rights (DRM) and .aac and .mp4 formats are not supported.
Most MP3 players and USB memory sticks will work with the system (USB 1.0, 1.1 or
2.0). It is not recommended to use devices with a ‘password’ function enabled, since

this can cause problems."

You could also use the Memory stick we got in the Welcome pack that is defo ok as it was supplied with the car ! Phone Fiat CS and they should send you it free if they are still doing this.

any windows formatted USB2 stick, you can buy them from Tescos, Currys anywhere really

save the music as windows media or mpg

will not work with itunes tracks

All of my USB sticks are Mac formatted and work fine, and all of my files are from iTunes and work fine too. They've been imported as MP3 files. iTunes can even convert files to MP3 if needed, so it shouldn't always be ruled out!

I never got one with my welcome pack

Can you tell me some makes of memory sticks that you have and find are working ok? Currently I have a Sandisk.

Sarah, have you had this stick working before? If so then unless the stick itself has gone faulty, or possibly damaged by being dropped or placed near a strong magnetic field the problem is more likely to be with the car and the old disconnect the battery or pull the fuse trick might remedy the problem.

If this is the first time you have used this facility and this is your only memory stick then I would suggest you try another and don't worry about the blue&me compatible rubbish, I have never found any of my various makes of USB memory not to work.

If you want to pm me your address I will send you the FIAT stick from my welcome pack to use for evaluation purposes and you can leave that in the car when it goes in for the repair.

But the 500 shaped memory stick is cute! :)

Cute but VERY expensive (bit like my first wife )

Back OT there is a list on here some where just cant find it :bang: but basicly it said stick to branded ones Scandisc Maxell... and use smaller ones ie 1GB or 2GB (remember when 1GB was big :D) as the system does not have so much to sift through - someone said they had a keyring with several on for different styles of music - rock R&B C&W etc

Wish I could find the post :bang:

Thanks for all the replies :)

I phoned Fiat yesterday to see if they could send me a list of compatible sticks (they told me there was one - although they dont sell them...hmmm...) only to be told that there is not a list and the stick I am using should be formatted in FAT32 (which it is).

This is my second stick as the first one had the same problem. The dealer said I may have too much on the stick?

So I have decided rather than buy another stick, to take off the majority of albums and leave 4 on there. They are collecting the car on 31 July along with the stick so they can re-synchronise the car and test it using the stick with the few albums on it.

Normally, I'd take off all the albums and put them back on again and the car would be fine, but on this occasion it is not playing ball :bang:

I'll see what happens after 31 July....watch this space

I use a Windows formatted Sony Micro Vault Tiny which is great cos you can leave it plugged in all the time and it's so small that no-one notices it's there!

All the tracks need to be mp3, but if you use Itunes and your tracks are AAC then Itunes can convert them to mp3 for you. The tracks should be copied directly onto the stick and NOT within any folders of any sort as I found this caused problems with mine.

Cheers

:)

It cant be a that there is "to many song" on the stick, i have mine full (8gb) and i dont have any problems with it.

Mine are in folders and sub folders and still works...
