 It is normal.... engine management maintains motion until clutch is dipped otherwise it would stall....

Did you buy a stop/start one?

This is perfectly normal although as you spotted a bit disconcerting. I notice it when slowing down, as the rev drop you suddenly notice a pick up in the cars speed at 1000 rpm, scary when your truing to stop ! After reading a few threads on here it became obvious that it was the cars brain trying to prevent me stalling it. Once you know its there and why it happens you can adjust your driving to compensate and now its very handy when crawling along the motor ways its like having free cruise control for low speeds !

Its always been there. Even my carbed 1989 Panda does this

I bet your Panda won't go from the bottom floor of a multi storey car park to the sixth floor in second gear without you having to touch the throttle though. ;)

The pulling power of the little diesel engine when in the anti stall mode is incredible, far more torque than under ordinary driving conditions. Indeed it accelerates up the ramps so much I need to brake as it is getting near the top.

Do you do this often? And does anyone who also does this have the same DPF problems? Just a thought. :ROFLMAO:

Panda probably won't do that, then again not sure if any modern petrol will but any diesel should without problem. Thats the torque for you.

And it's not an anti stall feature :bang: The car can still be stalled through user error just like most (except TD5 Defenders in 1st gear with 3.5 on the tow hitch, now they are hard to stall!).

Jon.

thanks for replays to problem of my 500 1.3 not slowing down to tick over as any other car when slowing down you should not have to dip the clutch at 1000 revs to stop the car running on I will take it up with dealer again jack
red with red leather and ivory looks great

I sorry, you should.

There is a mechanical connection between the engine & the wheels, if the engine is turning, regardsless of speed, there will be movement.

The only way to stop the movement it to break the connection between the engine & wheels, e.g. dip the clutch.
