I'd really like to use the Fiat website to configure a 500 Abarth SS but there doesn't seem to be an option. Any ideas on how to get the necessary info or even where on the web I can get an idea of how the pricing structure works for these.

There is no way to do it online. The only two sites that relate to the cars are www.fiat.co.uk/500abarth and www.abarthcars.co.uk which is a dreadful site. As I drove one yesterday and had a long look at the options, here are the prices of the options on top of the £13,600 OTR price.

If you want to play with a configurator then the one at www.abarth.it is good for a visual overview if you can work around the Italian and then mentally use the prices as already given. Hopefully at some point they will actually do something with the UK site, oh in addition as it isn't specified in the above list the leather gets the split rear seats and the SS kit is £2750 atm RRP iirc.

Looking at the configurators, the Punto appears to be a bit cheaper than the 500, what are the performance specs for them both, anyone know? It might be better for me to consider a 2nd hand Abarth Punto a few years down the line instead of a 500. I imagine the 2nd hand prices will be very reasonable in 1-2 years time.

The GP does work out to be a tad cheaper (a lot if you think how much more physical car there is), they have the same 0-60 times of 7.9 but the GP is faster at the top and has more torque and a 6th gear (135bhp vs 155bhp in the GP). It is a cracking car and was a serious contender for my cash , I think a better drivers car than the 500 but the doesn't have the same 'cheekiness' which draws me towards 500's as a whole.

A few years down the line I'll definitely be torn between my 500 and the Abarth Punto. I adore the way the Punto looks, even more so than the Abarth 500 as it just seems to look a bit more 'grown up'. In some ways I prefer the way the Grande Punto looks over the 500 anyway. I suppose the appeal of the 500 is the cheekiness of it but then the GP looks like a proper little beast in Abarth form whereas I find the 500 looks a bit awkward with that massive bumper sticking out at the front.

Plus the price difference doesn't make much sense to me considering what you get in both of them!

I thought the GPA SS was 7.9 0-60 but the standard GPA is 8.1, not much in it really. A500 SS is 7.4

My fault I was looking at old data that was in Kms the difference is miniscule tbh certainly nothing anyone in the real world would tell, I do think the GPs chassis would make a lot more difference in the road. I know, I know burn the heretic :)

What comes under the pearl paint and special paint?

Iv seen a matte black 500 that apparently is an abarth and it looks cool. Anybody know if that is a colour you can get now?

There isn't a matt black as standard, nearest I have seen is someone wrapped a white AGP with a matt black vinal, the black for the A500 is the metalic scorpion black which I suspect is also the one on the By Diesel cars.

BNW = free, Red and Grey = £250, black = £375, Funk White = £700

Hell, I want one but in two years time when I've had my 500 Sport for three years. I really don't want to go to the showroom and try one out yet as I'll be unable to control myself!

When I was looking into the "By Diesel" scenario I asked my dealer if he had the three colours in stock as it is difficult to assess them just from the configurator. He showed me a green and a brown but didn't have the black in stock. However he did say that it was the same as the ordinary 500, ie. Crossover Black.

The By Diesel one is definately metallic which is also crossover black, saw one at the Bedfordshire show yesterday (look great btw if it was anyone here's car) So they are more than likely the same colour just different names

The Black Abarth is actually metallic, when you see it close up there is a bit of sparkle about it.

The picture is definitely not that scorpion black, its not metallic at all. Never seen it before though.

Just search matte black 500 abarth in google and it comes up.

You know, I'm really pissed with this forum right now because in the last two days I have started two new threads on the Abarth which have both mysteriously disappeared. They were good threads too not rule-breakers.

If this thread stays up then I'll try and recall what I wrote before...
