Hey guys, after almost a month of deliberating, my fiancee and I are getting close to finishing our 500s spec.

Just thought you guys might want to ahve a look before hand to see if we've missed anything glaringly obvious optionwise. It's defiantely styled the way we wanted it and I am pretty sure we've got all the options we'd want... so here goes:

1.2 Start&Stop edition
Bosa Nova White
Dark grey interior with black trim
16" 7 spoke alloys
Rear spoiler
Side rubbings with italian 500 logo
Italian badge for front wing
Front fog lights
Steel kick plates
Ivory trim cloth mats
Interscope sound system
ESP system
Alarm

Can't see the point in parking sensors when the car is so small. Can't understand why the climate control is an extra £250. Will probably get a set of white 'London' key covers. Do you think I can get them to add a rear anti-roll bar before delivery if I want?

Um... That's about it! :D Trying to finalise price negotiations and currently hovering around the £9k mark.

Nice spec :p
However does your £9000 price include the £2k scrappage? as your car without alarm or mats or kick plates or badge or rear spoiler comes to over £10,400 and I can't get it to configure Interscope on a Stop/Start?

The configurator doesn't have all the correct options on it, per the price list and the dealer the interscope system is available on the start&stop.

Was quoted £7,900 for start&stop in white with alloys, side rubbings and fogs... so decided to add the extras and am getting an updated price today.

With the other extra I think it's going to be around £9k, so I am very happy. Any other options you think I should look at? At this price I might as well get exactly what I want!

Parking sensors are more about visibility than size (hence they are std on the 500c). The first time you reverse into something out of your sightline you will appreciate their usefulness.

Unless you have had a car with CC you will never understand why, at £250, it is a bargain.

Just a thought... We originally spent about 2 months deliberating on our spec based on a Pop, but then found out a few days before ordering that it was cheaper to get the spec we'd finalised on if we went for the Start 'n' Stop. It just so happened to have all the bits we wanted, plus a few more, for about 10 quid less.

Have you tried "configuring" the spec you want using the various base models (Sport, Lounge, etc)? You might find you get some "free" extras, or just save a few quid by starting off with a different base model.

So, you'd get both of these options? I tried speaking to the Fiat live chat people and they said the CC has the same air conditioning unit, but the difference is automatic control of both fan speed and temperature. Is that really such a big deal when you can just turn a dial?

When I test drove the 500 visibility was good, and for a normal parking space the 500 is incredibly easy to park. Do you have the parking sensors and how often are they NEEDED rather than useful?

Yeah, we did the same thing.. hence why we ended up with the start&stop as well.

The bonus for my fiancee is the pop cloth which she prefers to the lounge.

But I don't really see myself haggling anymore off the guy, I feel I've fleeced him already :S

If you look at my sig you will see that I do indeed have both these items and I was very pleased that the sensors alerted me to the presence of a dog that definitely wasn't there when I started to reverse into a space. lol. High kerbs in car parks are another area that have almost caught me out.

With regards to the Climate Control, as you have stated, one of it's features is to maintain a desired temperature, which it does by utilising sensors.

This means that when it has reached a preset temp it will cut out and only restart when necessary to maintain the status quo, whereas standard A/C will continue to dispense cold air all the time.

This does means that it doesn't have such a detrimental effect on fuel consumption.

Another thing I like is that the AUTO function allows air to be directed from all the vents simultaneously for a more comfortable all over effect and that also works with the A/C switched off.

One more thing, which you might consider trivial is that for rapid defrost I only need to push one button but for std A/C you need to:

* rotate Temperature knob to red section;
* rotate Air Recycle knob to outside air position;
* rotate Air Distribution knob to windscreen position;
* rotate Fan Speed knob to max.

Small things in the grand scheme of things I grant you and one of the many items of choice that will help to ensure that your car will almost certainly be unique.

There are some other features such as if air recycle is switched on and the A/C off if the outside temp is low the system auomatically switches to outside air to prevent misting but in the end it is up to the individual to decide how best to allocate the money.

The CC system sounds quite smart! Might have to have a look.

And the parking sensors again, sound smart. But I'd probably prefer to have squished the mutt! :eek:

If I went for these what options wouldn't I have though! :p (Apart from the sunroof, which we definately don't want).

Sadgit did you chip the dealer down then, if so how much?

We asked the guy what deal he could give us on motability and he said he could probably do 5%... We gave him our full spec and asked for his best price and he just came back with the partial price of £7,900 for the car with the fogs, rubbings and alloys... he's still trying to get the other options reduced.

Ta for that. I'm going in with cash + my heap of junk so I'm going to ask for a good deal.

Did you actually go and find a 500 with normal AC and try this process just to make sure of 100% accuracy or did you just do it off the top of your head? :ROFLMAO:

I have the parking sensors and whilst very useful I have found that they are rather sensitive and therefore I tend to park about 2 foot from the back of a parking space and then after getting out and having a look realise that in fact what was causing the beeping is still a few feet away.....

I personally wouldn't pay the extra for climate control -I like twiddling the knobs.

Actually I noticed you'd nipped out for a few mins, but I just assumed you were out touching up the masonry paint where I backed into your house... :D

A good example of how rear parking sensors would have detected my house when it jumped into your path whilst you weren't looking.

Heidi said knobs. :eek:

I know, and she always seems to come across so prim and proper ..... NOT! :rolleyes:

I gave that one to you both on a plate didn't I?

You certainly did, thanks. (y)
