I'm looking for something fun to drive and I heard the 500 is quite good for that as it always seem your going faster than you actually are and is quite agile round corners.

I'd love an abarth but insurance is ALOT (4k+), what do 1.2 and 1.4 owners think of their 500's? Does it make you smile when you put your foot down?

the only way you will know is to go and test drive one tbh.

I love mine, I find it fun and nippy, it's a 1.2 lounge, however 1.4 owners will say it's slow (which compared to a 1.4 it is!) :)

so get in touch with your local dealer and find out for yourself.

If you can't afford the Abarth then do not test drive it, you will do whatever it takes to able to afford one if you do that! Why is your insurance so dear? Mine started at £9000 (yes nine thousand) but played around a bit and got it down to £600!

And another thing, after driving the Abarth, the 1.4 and any other 500 variant will feel slow. Admittedly the 1.4 has a smoother box and comfier suspension but the Abarth shouldn't really be compared to any other 500 variants as it only really shares the shape, pretty much every other quality is different.

Have to say if Fiat came along and took my A500 away never to be retunred again I would go out and get a 1.3 sport personally. I just love that little mjet engine. I test drove a number of them and they are certainly good fun to drive, then again so is the mjet Panda which is our second daily car, I like the torque it delivers.

Not saying anything bad about the petol units they are both very sweet but I like small diesel engines in small cars these days.

I agree about the small diesel. I was all set on a 1.4 before testing a diesel. Its got enough power for any reasonable demands. It's good on the motorway too, as its got plenty of torque for accellerating in all the important ranges (rather than just 0-60), and revs are kept low due to the longer gearing.

I ditched my peugeot 206 diesal for a 500 Lounge 1.2 and have to say that was the best thing I ever did (y)

Hated that peugeot lol :bang:

Mine 1.4 is lowered and i have to say, it corners very good.
I feel safe in driving it fast........and all the gadgets (abs, esp,.....)
help too.

Thanks for the advice guys, just went for a test drive in a 1.2 and was so much fun in the corners, lacks in power when it gets over 50, but most fun is to be had before then. I agree with what was said about the abarth, I'd probably end up having to take up some part time work as a drug dealer just to get my hands on it! How did you get the insurance so cheap and who was it with?

Think I'll probably go with a White 1.2 sport :)

I phoned some doctors but theres no point really because they said it'd cost loads to have the op, so in the end wouldnt really save me any money :(

They are very fun to drive, I've got a 1.2 Lounge and it feels brilliant to drive. The engine loves being revved hard and the cornering is bouncy and rolly but fairly grippy and brilliant fun when the back end gets a bit skittish!

The engine sounds fairly nice too.
